My name is Derek and I am a 25 year old guy who was well overweight for most of my life. Well not anymore! I was successfully sleeved on March 10th, 2011 and have been losing weight ever since. I am an active person who enjoys golf, fishing but most of all hockey. I have been playing hockey since the age of 5 and apparently I learned how to skate before I learned to walk. I play recreational hockey with my friends out in Ottawa twice a week and I also coach my brothers Juvenile (non-contact Junior A) hockey team here in Aylmer. I am an avid Ottawa Senators fan and for those who follow, you could have guessed that from my username. I try and play golf twice a week in the summer. On my off days, I enjoy fishing and spending time with my friends and family. With the weight coming off, everything in life is getting easier to do and life is finally getting more and more enjoyable. The VSG was really the perfect fit for me and it is the best decision I could have ever made in my life. If you are thinking about surgery, STOP thinking about it and just do it. It's the greatest gift you can give to your body. I know it was for me!
