Surgeon Testimonial

William S. Peters
My first impression of Dr. Peters was a little scary. His office isn't exactly what you'd expect for a highly recommended surgeon whose waiting list is months long.
He doesn't pull any punches. He's brutally honest, up front and even a bit over the top when it comes to his negative shpeil. You will leave his office knowing and understanding ALL of the associated risks.
He provides you with pamphlets to read and a list of excellent websites, including this one. He doesn't want you to take any of this process lightly. He expects you to do what he says and doesn't want to waste time with patients who are in this for purely cosmetic motivations or those that wont follow protocall.
After talking to him, I realized the Mahogony Desk and Corner Office aren't his priorities. His priority is the safety of his patients. He made it very clear that I had to quit smoking. Tough to do, but I did it, because he wasn't kidding. He said he'd send me home on the day of my surgery if he found out I was still smoking. I believe it.
I think I'd have liked it if he came accross as a little more nurturing at first, but I'd rather have a surgeon with his confidence and his determination for successful outcome then someone who says "oh poor baby."
His office staff is helpful, caring and professional. The office manager, Robbie (his wife) knows what she's doing, and without her help and advice I would never have been approved by my ins. co. so quickly.

Susan: It was a pleasure spending time with you and hopefully adding you to my list of dear friends, (Marshall too, he is the model for all Husbands or Wives who go through all this...you are correct, he is a one in a million and a keeper)....It was my pleasure to see you transform from "A Deer in The Headlights", looking like you had some sort of stroke....to a special person that is now on the losing side and I am very very jealous....Good luck and God bless. Michele

Just a quick note, I saw Susan as she left the hospital last night...she looks terrific, even if she doesn't think she does...I am looking forward to hearing about her strides to the losing side. May God Bless her every step of her journey.

A New Journey
on October 4, 2011 2:52 pm
Where to start. It's been seven years since I've updated my profile. So much has changed. Don't even know where to begin...have had a rollercoaster of a life, but it seems to be evening off finally.
My weight is stable and I'm healthy. Due to some pretty bad noncompliance and other unrelated health problems, I've learned the importance of following protocol and I am now dedicated to helping others avoid the problems I've had. So, I'm baaaaaaaaaaacccckkkkkkk!!! And I want to become a support group leader. I'm currently looking into some post bariatric certifications and coaching licensure. So,  a new journey begins.
