July 15 - CPAP - Second Night

Jul 14, 2007

I used it again last night and it wasn't as bad, but  I don't think I used it long enough.  I fell asleep on the couch last night for about 2 hours (very exciting Saturday night, eh) before DH and I went up to bed. I was WIDE awake so I didn't put it on right away. I put it on ahen I thought I was getting drowsy and it was a good 1 1/2 hours before I fell asleep. I woke up again WIDE awake at about 5:30. I took it off, went to the bathroom and felt like I was raring to go. I didn't think I was going to fall back asleep, but I did, for about 1 1/2 hours. So all in all, I slept with the thing less than 5 hours.  Is that a problem, do you think?

Here's hoping I sleep longer tonight!!

July 14, 2007 - CPAP

Jul 14, 2007

Last night was a real calamity. I finally got the CPAP machine this week and decided I would start using it last night. It took a good half hour until I got used to the air blowing up my nose.  One of my labs thought that the hose was a toy and went after it for quite a while until she got bored.  My husband is a terrible snorer and normally it doesn't bother me, but every freaking time I started to fall asleep, his snoring woke me up. Once I woke up, I was hot, I was cold, I was thirsty, had to go to the bathroom...ugh. I finally gave up and went downstairs for a bit.

The respiratory therapist who showed me how to use the machine, said that there is a card in the machine that records everything.  What does it record? Anyone know? I'm not trying to "cheat" I just want to know what the story is and I'm worried that if I don't use it, when I get to the hospital for the surgery, there will be a problem. I guess I better use it???
