January 26, 2008 - Boots

Jan 26, 2008

I bought my first pair of shoes ever in Nine West today. Actually, they were boots. I've never been able to buy shoes in there because they don't sell anything in wide.  Today I bought a pair of boots that look like Uggs. I felt so cool!!!

January 20 - Five months post op

Jan 19, 2008

So here I am, 5 months post-op. I did it! I freaking did it! I am so proud of myself for going through this. I was so afraid of the hospital and the preops and of all things medical, but I did it!!!  It makes me so mad to read articles or hear comments referring to the fact that WLS is easy. It was difficult and each day is still a battle with food, just on a smaller scale.

I do not see the weight loss in the mirror. Honestly .l don't. I do see it in other ways:

I can sit in a booth with no problems and there is room!
I can cross my legs.
My ankles are no longer swollen and my lower legs no longer get red
I walk outside for miles and enjoy it.
I have more energy!
I wear size 18/20 pants and am about the same in the shirts (depends on the cut).

I will post some 5 month post op pictures this week.

I am halfway to goal and the scale has slowed some, but I know it's because I'm not  working my tool the way it should be. Lately I'm fighting the battle with my head, much like I did before I was sleeved.  I am just going to try and do the best I can do each way. Sometimes I hear DH's voice when I reach for something I shouldn't and it hurts so bad that he's not here.

Again, thank you all for your guidance, support, knowledge and friendship. The VSG people are amazing!

Love,
Stacey

Yesterday would have been DH's 42nd birthday. I got a piece of his favorite birthday cake, a few cookies and went with my MIL and SIL to the cemetary where we released a bunch of birthday balloons.  All of the balloons went up cockeyed...like they didn't want to go. When I let the "I love you" balloon up, it went up straight and didn't waiver. We were supposed to leave yesterday for his 3 day birthday cruise to the Bahamas.

We decided to do some shopping for our upcoming NYC trip, but of course we had to eat first. Went to Grand Luxe and it's always so yummy there.

I always avoided going to this mall, Sawgrass Mills, because it's huge and walking it in the year or so prior to my surgery was a nightmare for me. I had no problems at all.   I found some great tops in the Lane Bryant outlet and I'm happy to report that they're all 18/20s!

The highlight though was in Chico's. I've always loved their clothes but of course, they would never fit. I bought the greatest top in a 3 and it fit with no problems! My SIL is already planning that I'll wear it one night in NYC with Marcia's skinny 18/20 INC pants.

All in all, it was a nice night!!

Today would have been DH's 42nd birthday. We had a tradition of going on a 3 day cruise for his birthday and were supposed to leave this morning. I woke up feeling so sad. We were supposed to be laughing and celebrating this weekend. Instead, I'm going to the cemetary with my MIL and SIL with a piece of cannoli cream cake (his favorite!!) and a bunch of balloons...I'll be spending the evening with my MIL and SIL remembering and missing...

January 12, 2008 - Pants

Jan 12, 2008

I put on a pair of Marcia's size 18 pants from INC! They fit!!  They were on the tight side, but they fit. I think I may wear them to my dad's birthday party tonight with a pair of heels.

I so wish I could see the weight loss in the mirror!! Am I that screwed up that I don't see it????

DH and I got engaged 6 years ago tonight. Who would have thought that it would wind up like this?

January 5, 2008 - Shopping in Marcia's closet

Jan 05, 2008

First of all, I cannot tell you how much fun I had with Marcia yesterday.  We've gotten together quite a few times since we met last summer and each time I adore her more and more.  Not only is she a wonderful friend, but she is one of the most generous friends you will ever ever ever have.

When Marcia invited me to go to shopping in her closet, I had no idea it would be like it was.  She is a total total total clothes horse and has the most amazing taste. Every time I told her I had enough, she was, like, "no, no, no, there's more."  I feel like I have all of Saks/Nordstrom's/Macy's and other fine boutiques in my closet now. It was unreal. I think it took us 4 trips out to the car.

Some of the things will fit me now and some pretty soon. I will be taking pictures because these clothes must be passed on.
