2 weeks post op
on June 1, 2007 12:27 pm
Well I saw my surgeon and my medical doctor this past Tuesday. I am doing great and they say right on track. I have lost 19 lbs since surgery for a total of 45 lbs since I started. I am pretty happy with that. I get a little discouraged when I see others loosing more but I know we all lose at our own pace. I am going back to work on Monday, Im excited to see all my co-workers but I kind of like this relaxing at home stuff.

I go back to the doctor in 2 weeks and should be started on the pureed stage. I am really not that hungry. Im eating on a schedule otherwise I probably wouldn't get all my protein in. I do miss food sometimes but for the most part Im ok. To be honest Im afraid to eat. I don't want to get sick or get something stuck.

Home from the hospital...

Well I have been home 2 days now since my surgery May 17th. Those first few days and nights I was in severe pain. I cried numerous times and kept asking myself why did you do this to yourself? I am feeling better today but still very sore. I just can't wait to get past this stage of feeling horrible and get to where I feel myself again.

As for the protein shakes,,,yuck!!!! It takes almost all I have to get those things down. They taste horrible. I have a bunch of samples that I purchased from Beth's Protein Boutique so I just hope that I will come across one that I will like.

I just can't wait to feel 100% better and be losing weight.

I have a surgery date and I've been approved!

Well I finally made it through all the doctor visits. I am scheduled for surgery May 17th. I finally got word this past Thursday that my insurance has approved the surgery. I can't believe that in a little over a month I will be on the losing side. I am so excited!
I have been trying to get things ready for after surgery and I tried my first protein shake tonight. I must say Blah!!! I didn't like it at all. I drink slim fast during the week for breakfast and lunch and I actually like that. I get nervous when I think about all of this sometimes but I know I will be fine and that I will be happy I did this after I lose the weight and get rid of some of the health problems I have

My Story

My name is Amy, Im 28 yrs old and live in Central PA. I have been overweight pretty much my entire life. I have been thinking about and researching WLS for about 2 years. This past July I told my PCP that I was interested in the surgery and I started my journey. I have been to see doctors in Danville and here at home every month since. I recently had my psych. appt. and ultra sound. I got the green light as far as my mental health but just found out that I have gall stones and should think about having my gall bladder out when I have surgery. I have an appointment December 13th and then I get to finally meet my surgeon and from there have about a 6-8 week wait. Its been a long 5 months and Im almost there. I can't wait to start my new life.
