So far so good 1/15
on January 15, 2008 2:43 am
I was down to 301.5  today.  I am getting close to that 300 mark.  I can't tell you when the last time I weighed less than 300 was.

Ate out at Chili's Sunday night.  Monterrey Chicken and Lime Seasoned Shrimp.  The chicken was fine, but the shrimp too a lot of chewing.  And still really wasn't ready to be swallowed.  But I did get plenty to eat for the next couple of days.

Next week we are going to Red Lobster.  I will have fish instead of shrimp.

Doing fine without protein supplements.  Using Atkins Advantage, 2 cans every night (30 gms protein).

Also, still doing decent with the water.  Drink 3 seventeen oz bottles a day.

It has been a while since I updated this

It has been a wonderful ride.  I ended up losing 20+ pounds before the surgery.  I weighed 334 on the morning of the surgery.  I have lost another 32 lbs since then.  I am down to 308 as I type this.  I am so amazed.  According to Mary, I have stopped snoring.  Also, when I walk up the stairs at work, my knees no longer are killing me when I reach the top.

Foodwise, I am eating a bunch of stuff.  I stopped the protein supplement because I am eating so much protein.  I have been having a turkey omelot for breakfast every morning (1 egg).  Then I have been having turkey or chicken for lunch and supper every day.  I am the type of guy who does not get sick of eating the same thing everyday.  This weekend I will be trying beef for the first time.  So far my favorite is the shrimp I put through the Bullet with a tablespoon and a half of marinara sauce.

I am so thankful that I have had this surgery.  And this is just the beginning.

Still going strong
on December 7, 2007 3:22 am
I don't know if anyone really reads this stuff, but it has been a pretty good week.  Went to the doc for weigh in to make sure the liquid diet is working.  All systems are go.  I have stuck pretty good to the liquid diet.  I have cheated two times, but it was so minimal.  Twice, I ate one inch off a slice of Swiss Cheese.  I LOVE Swiss Cheese.  Anyway, I have lost 22 lbs as of yesterday (12/6).

I weighed myself when I first started this diet and weighed 359.5,  Yesterday I was 337.5.  That is remarkable in itself.

Getting close
on November 9, 2007 3:57 am
I am well on my way to making the big step.  The only pre-op thing I have left is my endoscopy.  Then I can set the date.  I was looking at Dec 13, but for family reasons I may request Dec 11.  Dr Matin is my doctor and I know he does his surgeries on Tuesday and Thursday.

My Story

There really isn't much of a story to tell.  I have always been big.  I did 20 years in the military, the last 10 fighting weight hard.  My max weight was always 221, due to my height.  We had to weigh in once a year.  Sometimes it was supposed to be a surprize date, but never for me, since I ran the weight control program.  Anyway, shortly after I got out the service, my weight climbed.  Until it finally levelled off at 320 or so.  This last 18 months I have gained more, now sitting at 354  the last time I got on the scale.  My wife, Mary, had the surgery on 06/06/06.  My doctor told me he thought I should consider it, so here I am.
