Since I can remember I've always had a problem with my weight. I've tried diet after diet all of them with the same result......lose the weight for a little while, then gain it back.  I've tried all the diet plans that's out there from Slimfast, Phen-Phen, Weight Watchers, Nutri-System, etc...................... You name it, I've done it. 

Always feeling like a failure not only to myself, but also to my family too. So I decide that I was going to try and lose the weight the old fashion way which was to eat sensible foods and exercise everyday. The more I worked out and ate the right foods the more I got depressed because the weight wasn't coming off, if anything I was gaining weight. I've always settled my weight issue by ignoring them and then trying to help everyone else around me . I always thought I'll get back on the diet band wagon tomorrow but never did. Before I knew it several years had past and I was bigger than ever. 

So I finally decided that I needed some help, I started doing research on WLS and at first wanted the lapband. But after I learned about all the complications with the lapband I decide against it.  I then discovered the VSG and after alot of research I have to say, I was very impressed with the surgery and with the VSG forum. It was like a community of people who have experienced what I was going through and had been where I was going. It was like another family for me.........and when I started posting and found out about Dr. Alvarez I was sold. Shortly after deciding on the VSG I found out that I had 3 ulcers in  my stomach. I knew right then and there I had to do something fast. Not only would I solve my weight problem........I would solve my stomach ulcers too. I knew in my heart this was the best surgery for me.

 So I  talked with Susan and got my surgery date with Dr. Alvarez which was March 10, 2008 and I have to say everything went great!!!!! Dr. Alvarez was everything people said he was and more. His staff really made me feel comfortable  and I would recommend Dr. Alvarez to anyone who wants to have  surgery. If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't change a thing. This surgery really was a life saver for me and I'm glad I did it. I finally did something for myself and it feels great. My only regret is not doing it sooner.
