Surgeon Testimonial

Jack F. Rutledge, M.D.
I first met Dr. Rutledge about 4 years ago when I went to a WLS seminar and I thougt that if I went thru with the surgery..he was going to be the one to do it. There were three other doctors in the seminar with him, but I knew he was the one for me. Fast forward four years and we meet again at a weight loss seminar. He was the only surgeon there but I had made up my mind four years before. I turned in my paper work and requested a consulation appointment with his office. Went to the appointment on December 14, 2006 and I thought he was little distant. Did not feel really comfortable with him after that visit. But I talked it over with some friends and they said his bedside manner was not as important as his credentials. Then one of my friends made me reallize a few things that could have influenced my judgement. 1) I was scared 2) I was PMSing 3) I was scared!! 4) a little personal stress going on at the time. So I knew that the main problem was ME on that visit. His office was very thorough in getting my paper work submitted to my insurance company and I got approval in exactly 10 business days and had a surgery date three weeks later. I had to have one more office visit with Dr. Rutledge and he wanted to met one of my family members. My mom was not really wanting me to have to surgery and did not want to go to visit with me. But she came and I was afraid that would be a disaster but you know what....my mom and aunt both got along great with Dr. Rutledge..which is saying a whole lot. They normally do not get along to well with Dr's. :-)rnrnSo on the day of my surgery I had a few friends and family along with me and he was even great to my friends. My friends Monica and Michelle were back in the surgery prep area with me and Monica called him Dr. McDreamy and he just laughed. He noticed right away that my mother was not present and he went out into the waiting area to talk to her before he started my surgery!! How is that for concern and courtesy? I would give him a five! !(I work for a call center and 5 is the highest score you can get). He came to check me over the next day and I was cleared to go home. I will have a follow up appointment next Thursday and go from there. I think Dr. Rutledges bedside manner and surgical competence are both excellent!

Life Changing Prayer
on October 25, 2008 6:45 pm

Colossians 1:9-10 (New American Standard Bible)

9For this reason also, (A)since the day we heard of it, (B)we have not ceased to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the (C)knowledge of His will in all spiritual (D)wisdom and understanding,

 10so that you will (E)walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, (F)to please Him in all respects, (G)bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;

Philippians 4:6 says that it’s good to bring requests to the Lord, and we often ask Him for certain blessings, desired outcomes, and healing for loved ones. But there are times when, in God’s omniscience, He sees that a “no” would ultimately result in greater good.

So, what supplications can you be sure are in accordance with His will? The apostle Paul recorded specific petitions he made on behalf of the Colossians, and you can offer these life-changing prayers for the people in your life.

First, request that they “be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding” (Col. 1:9). In this way, you are asking God to give them direction and the ability to see life from His viewpoint.

Second, ask that they “will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord” (v. 10). The only way to succeed in this is through the control of the Holy Spirit—He fills hearts with a longing for God and creates the desire to please Him through obedience.

Third, pray that their lives would count (v. 10). There is a difference between being busy and being fruitful. Many Christians assume that to have an impact for God, they must volunteer in numerous ministries at church or become a missionary or pastor. But the truth is, effectiveness in God’s work depends on what He calls each person to do.

Too often, Christians pray for others only during hardships. But Paul continuously lifted up the Colossians to our Father (Col. 1:9). As you mention others by name to the Lord, consider the areas that the apostle addressed.

Somebody Prayed for me
on October 25, 2008 6:30 pm
Had me on their mind, took the time out to pray for me.....Ain't God alright!  Man.....I just had to post this and send a shout out to my Savior and to the many "angels" He has placed in my life.  (and the post I after this one was in my inbox today too)

Today has been such a wonderful day! Not only was the weather beautiful, but God just let His "Son" shine, shine a little brighter on me.  First of all, the program director for Prism (a math and science program my daughter attends) got a group of college guys to come over and help me paint my computer room and hall way and also take down so wall paper in both my bathrooms.  This is no small feat being that the house is so old and the wall paper probably had been up longer then the guys have been alive!! lol But that was such a blessing. After they left I got on line and was surfing around and when I got to OH, I had several emails......some from were friend request and then there were two others (sorry I am about to send shout outs to some ppl) one from Harriett and the other from Melissa H....they both are such wonderful ppl and they just sent a message reminding me that I am in there thoughts and prayers.  WOW!  How awesome is it to have someone praying for me and it is always when God knows I need a little extra pick me up.  Then of course there are my girls on the Jan 07 board...what would I do with out them???? They are such a positive group and keep me in their thoughts and prayers while I am going thru this patch in my life with my daughter and everything else.  Then I got a text message yesterday from Eric on BAF and he was just checking on me since he had not talked to me in while....another one of God's helpers reaching out to me when I needed it the most.  Then there is my co worker Kim C who, oh my goodness...she is so precious and wonderful.  And reminds me of how blessed I am and keeps me lifted up.  God said that when two or three are gathered in His Name He is in our midst...I can definitely say He is in our midst!! And I so happy about that.
This post could go on and on but I am going to wrap it up....I had to stop before writing this and go and spend some time thanking God for how wonderful  He is to me...for no other reason than that He Loves me and He thinks I am special!  I am so encouraged right now....its just so uplifting to know that God always sends someone to help lift us up when we have trouble remember how to fly.   I have really been making so poor choices as far as my eating habits lately and just about given up hope....but you know what?  God sent all these cheerleaders out to let me know I can do all things thru Christ because He strengthens me!! So when I am at my wits end and thinking that I can't go on or that I want to just give up...these people who most have not met me in person have faith and believe in me and I have to believe in me too! And I do! So not only am I in the game, but I am also on the sidelines cheering for me cause this is not a destination but a journey and I may as well enjoy it because I will being traveling this road for the rest of my life!  The struggle is over...not saying the road will be easy but the acceptance of where I am will make the rough patches easier to bear.  Thanks to all of you wonderful angel cheerleaders who have faith in me and who care enough to pray for me...it is working....God is good!!

Glad I did not count that low from last Sunday after the water pill..i would be about ready to jump off the bridge with the big jump back up...I am ready to jump actually...my weight fluctates way too much for me and I am so ready to get to my goal and be able to maintain it.....and that is up to me I have to start back making healthful choices (got that word from my therapist lol, not good choices but healthful choices)..

Anyway...still having some swelling, I was 172 all last week and then Thursday, it hopped back up to 178...I don't want to be dependent on the water pills but dang...I actually took one on Friday but it did not make a big difference so I don't guess it was water and I don't know what is up with the 6 pound jump in a few hours.....oh well..such is life and life is such.  See you next week!
