10 YEARS post op
on April 26, 2011 1:55 pm
WOW 10 Years has past so fast!!

Everything is pretty much the same I have upped the cardio & started eating 5-6 small meals a day & the weight is slowly coming back off.  In the last 6 weeks I have lost 9.2 lbs.

I only seem to get on here now when it is my anniv. so good luck to everyone in this journey.

Tried to update my photo since this one is about 8 years old but it wont let me do it. :{

8 Years Post op

It seems like the same post as last year still have weight to get off since the baby (who is now 28 month).  The left over weight is really getting me down so I started the 5 day pouch test on Monday & have done well sticking to it.  It's good to really "feel" hungry again & not just grab the nearest carb which is what I have been doing.  I am currently 164 & want to get back down to 145 so 19 lbs to go.

7 year anniversary
on April 24, 2008 9:28 am
It seems like the same post as last year still have weight to get off since the baby (who is not a baby anymore).  I had PPD & really struggled last year with it.  I finally am beggining to see a light at the end of the dark tunnel with some medication.  The left over weight is really getting me down & I feel like I just cannot get it off no matter how much/little I eat.  It is very frustrating but I would not change my life with Makenna for the little extra weight I have on my body for the world.  She is the light of Doug & my life she is such a wonderful little girl.  She is walking, talking & last night she was singing the Barney song (must have learned it at daycare) I luv you, you luv me it's pretty cute to hear it comming from a 16 month old.  Here's to another year.  xoxo ~ Cindi

6 year anniversary
on April 24, 2007 12:15 pm

Time Fly's it has been 6 years since I had surgery & I had a baby 5 months ago.  I'm currentyly at 160 so I still have about 15 lbs to lose from pregnancy gain.  Life is still the same with the challenge of losing & keeping it off.  Sleep depervation does make it hard to try to stick to eating what I should as I just seem to grab what I can & that is not always the best choice for losing weight.  Here's to another year of health & happiness. ~ Cindi

Superbowl Sunday & we are sick & staying home & baby is sleeping. I finally have some time to write.  On December 1st my due date I went to the Dr at noon & he asked if I wanted to have the baby that day & of course I said yes & he told me to be at the hospital by 4 & he would break my water.  We checked in and at about 7:30pm the Dr finally arrived to break my water & I had baby Makenna at 10:42pm 12/1/06 she was 7lbs 9oz & 19" long.  I had the best pregnancy & delivery anyone could ask for, I worked up to & on the day I had her.  I have a high pain tolerance & thought I MIGHT be able to go without drugs but I was begging for them ended up having an EPI, after he broke my water the contractions were on top of each other & very intense I couldn't hang but after I got it they were better but still not great & the nurse checked the machine & can you belive it the dr forgot to turn it on so I was only getting the initial drug not the "real" drug.  After the Dr came back in & turned the machine on it was so wonderful & zero pain.  Had a 2nd degree tear & was in pain from that for at least 3 weeks & we live in a tri-level condo with the bedroom upstairs can you say Ouch.  I can say that the pain after childbirth with the 2nd degree tear is much worse than any of the plastic surgery that I have had.  Makenna is sleeping through the night from about 9-6 & then goes back down for 3-4 hours.  I'm still off work until March & do not want to go back.  I have been working from home & trying to heal & take care of Makenna & it is really hard I don't know how any stay at home Mom's that work from home do it I commend you.  I hope everyone is doing well & Happy Healthy New Year (a little late) xoxo Cindi

I am 32 years old, single & have been overweigh since 1st grade.

I have been looking into this for about 3 years. I have never been able to have my insurance pay for it so I'm hoping this will be the time.

I have done so many diets & have done well at taking it off but never keeping it off. I feel like surgury is the only way I will ever lose & keep it off. My friends & family all think that I must me nuts to go to such means but I cannot do it without this. I cannot go on at this weight & the life I have right now without it.

I went in for my consultation on March 15th 2001 and was approved through the Dr.'s to have the surgery now I'm waiting for Blue Cross to see if they will pay for it.

March 29, 2001 approved for surgery

Surgery scheduled for April 23rd 7:00 am

April 4, 2001 I get to tell my employer & parents that I am going though with the surgery, I'm not willing to fight with them about it. They will have to understand my wishes. I'm very nervous about the surgery it's only 19 days away.

April 20, 2001 I went in to fill out paperwork for the hospital. Found out that they had me in as an Open instead of a Lap. I spoke with the office staff which were very rude. I spoke with the office manager Cheryl & she said that there was nothing she could & that I would be just as happy with the open surgery. I threw a fit & she told me that she was going to cancel my date because I have a bad attitude & that is why they send us in for a phy eval - when you expect one thing & get another it's a little hard not to be upset, when I had family coming in from out of state to stay with me I just couldn't cancel it. She told me to call he back in 15 min. & tell her if I still wanted to have it done. I called her back & she said that she got the Lap approved. Now dont you think that she would have tried to get it approved before she got me all worked up about it for nothing?

April 23, 2001 I had surgery everything went excellent. I was in very little pain if any hardly used the Morphin ended up with a temp. of 100.7 so they made me stay in the hospital 2 extra days 4 days total.

April 30, 2001 I went back to work. I'm very tired but other than that I feel good. Sleep during lunch.

May 7, 2001 I had my first visit since my surgury. Once again the office staff is very bad. I should have been in 4 to 7 days post op but it was 14 days, they said it was the first available.
Then I did not even see my Dr. but I lost 16 lbs

June 6, 2001 I go in for my 1 month appt. today. Everything has been good but its hard to find what to eat I have only thrown up once & that was with beans. Basicly I have tuna, eggs, saltine crackers. Nothing else even sounds good. Lost 35 lbs

May 15, 2002
On May 2nd I had Breast Lift & Implant put in. Up & around the next day. Pain was not as bad as I thought it would be. I needed help getting up from lying down, & also in washing my hair, I took baths since you cant get bandages wet for about a week. They were very hard & sore up until now they are finally starting to feel & look like real breasts. They were kind of looking like footballs at first, they say it takes about a month for them to settle into place.

September 18, 2002 Had my Gallbladder removed. Surgery was much worse than WLS. Still having pain 1 1/2 months later, don't know why they think I have fluid built up. Just have to wait to see what happens.
Update: everything is fine with the Gallbladder removal fluid has gone away.

April 23, 2003
2nd year anniversary. Everything has been pretty much the same.
The only problem I have is with Acid Reflux I didn't not have it prior to surgery. I do dump & I try to stay away from things that make me, but it is a learning experiance.

April 25, 2003
Went to see my Surgeon for 2 year check up & he was very proud of where I am. He said only about 1% actually make it to their goal weight, most are 20-40 pounds away. I asked what they have learned if anything in the last 2 years that we need to be aware of & the only thing that would be a problem is if we do not take our vitamins they are finding if you don't take your b-12 you will end up with nerological problem (not if but when)& other dificiancy that are from not taking our vitamins. Be sure you have your blood drawn at least 1 a year & make sure you are on top of your health get it before it is too late.

8/18/03 Got scoped for acid reflux & pain in belly Dr says it's ok but put me on some medication that you can only take 1 hour before & 2 hours after a meal ~ try to get that in 4 x's a day NOT ~ but I have managed to get 1-2 x's a day & feel finally normal again without reflux that I've had for about a year now I have not had any problems with it since starting this liquid prescription that is for ulcers.

My friends Carol Ann & Johnny got married this past weekend the 16th & I was in the wedding. I went back on all proteins for 2 weeks prior to it & lost 4.5 lbs so yes the dress fit ~ yeah for me. She looked wonderful & I am so happy for her ~ I set them up (I met her here on-line) & 10 months later they are married.

2/10/04 Had plastic surgery thigh lift, hernia & lipo on my calf's & knees. Everything went well the thighs are the hardest because to sit it pulls at the stitches. Needless to say going to the bathroom is a challenge. The calf's cause the most pain they are swollen & painful to the touch.

2/24/04 Had stitches out from the hernia & waiting another week for the thighs I still have some drainage & burning from the left side but the right side is great no pain since day 3.

4/23/05 4 Year Anniversary I've gained since my lowest weight of 127 to now I'm at 155 that is 28lbs but I also shouldn't have been at 127 I think I should be at about 135 so really I need to loose about 20 lbs I'm going back to basics. I'll let you know how it goes. The further out you get the scarier it gets with you controlling the food or the food controlling you. I can eat much more that at 2 years out & I can tolerate anything. The pleasure of always having people complement you on how well you've done & how well you look is over since they have all seen me get to my lowest. The compliments are a nice way to keep going & keep tring a little harder to get to goal. Now it is totally up to me to use my tool & keep the snacks out of my
possesion & get on with losing back down to goal weight.

4/25/06 5 year Anniversary this year has gone by so fast for me. I got engaged, married & am 9 weeks pregnant. I have lost some weight from last year as I was at 155 & now am at 148 being pregnant so I have pretty much maintained my weight this past year & as I said last year it just gets harder every year to keep the weight off. I wish everyone great sucess in the jouney we are all on.
