1 year and 7 months out
on August 5, 2008 12:51 pm
This loooong overdue.. I guess it's about time I put some kind of an up-date here.
Since surgery, I've lost 145 lbs and currently weigh 105 lbs.  I'm only 5 foot tall so this weight is actually okay for me, I wouldn't mind putting on another 5 or 10 lbs but I'm not complaining ;-)  I'm very happy.
I can do so many things now that I wasn't able to before, or for some things I just didn't feel comfortable doing and my health/life has improved tremendously. Only a short 2 or 3 months after surgery I didn't have to sleep with my cpap machine.. wooo hoooo, i can walk and enjoying doing it as well as climbing stairs.. I can climb them now without having to take 10 minutes or more to catch my breath afterwards.. I can actually run up some now.  I'm so loving my DS and of course Dr L for being the great surgeon that he is.
I can bend over to tie my shoes, cut or paint my toe nails, sit in the bathtub  and get out without a major struggle. No more stress incontinence.
I'm riding my bike now.. I love it!! I'm also looking forward to going to our local fair this year and getting on some rides.. I haven't been to the fair in years.
I can't thank everyone enough on this site for the help they have given me to get to where I am today and of course Dr L again.
I could go on and on about how the WLS has saved my life.. these are just a few.

Surgery's Done
on January 27, 2007 1:00 pm
Well this is a little overdue but surgery was done as scheduled on Jan 4th 2007, by one of the best surgeons ever, Dr Lutryzkowski.  He is one of the kindest people I've ever met.
Surgery went well.  I was out of it for the first day and barely woke up the second day.  Talk about dry mouth.. the ice chips were heavenly Lol. I was in the hospital for 4 days.  The pain wasn't really all that bad, well I had a morphine pump when I needed it, so it was all good. The thing that hurt me the most was the removal of the drains, but luckily it only lasted a second (whew).
Eating since surgery has been pretty good (knock on wood).  While I was at the hotel in Michigan all I ate was sugarfree applesauce (2 or 3 bites and I was done) I was leary on trying anything different until I was in the comfort of my own home.  So when I got home I had fat free cottage cheese, fat free yogurt, special k, different kinds of soup, poached eggs and it all has sat well.  Shortly after my 2 weeks post op I had shakin bake chicken, it was sooo good. Tonight I'm going to try fish, I'm just over 3 weeks out now.
Oh and yesterday I bought some mac and cheese sandwich meat had a slice and it was really really good too.
So to give you an idea of what I'm eating now, I'll tell you what I ate yesterday.  For Breakfast I had a soft poached egg, for lunch I had a yogurt cup, (I had a snack) I had a slice of mac and cheese loaf (or whatever you call it) and for Dinner I had 1 cup of mushroom soup.  So far today I've had special k with 1% milk, slice of mac and cheese, 1 cup of mushroom soup and tonight I'm going to have fish.

Met Dr L
on December 2, 2006 7:18 pm
Well I went to Michigan had my consult and met Dr L.. I absoloutley love him.. he's so nice Impressionable and caring, I couldn't have chosen a better surgeon.  I went in there feeling a little nervous.. not really sure what to expect and I was made to feel very comfortable, welcome and at ease.  I also met another fellow Canadian there (Sue from Sudbury) how kewl is that..
I have a tentative date for the first week in January.. here's hoping that time sticks.. I'm planning to start a course the first week of Feb and my Sister'n'law is having surgery the end of Jan (she's going with me when I have my surgery.. and I might add has been with me the whole way through.. gotta love her).
Well that's it for now.. I'll post again soon

My Story

Hi all! My name's Leslie, I'm 37 and I have an 18 year old daughter who's beautiful (of course.. who's child isn't right!)  I've been married for almost 9 years on (Valentines Day).  I've been overweight all my life.  I've lost weight many times just to gain it back and more on top.  I'm bigger now than what I've ever been... it's crazy.  I'm so happy that I've found Obesity Help.  I've been wanting to have the WLS for years now but I was kind of slammed for it however since I've found this place it's been much different, I don't know if it's because with everyones support here and me just saying, "that's it I'm doing it" that people seem okay with it now or if it's just from all of the research I've done and shared what I've learned with everyone else.  I have told a few people (my Mother and Husband specifically) that I know it's not going to be a piece of cake after surgery (if all goes well and I'm approved).  I'm hoping I've educated them enough that they are all okay with it.  They haven't discouraged me at all, so that's a plus, the support here is amazing but support at home is good too.  Okay I'm done rambling
