10 days after surgery..life has changed.
on October 16, 2011 6:46 pm
Well, I did it.   They took me back about 1:30 pm on Oct 7th.   I don't remember much after my dad took a few pictures of me.  I believe the day of surgery I weighed about 325.  After I woke up in the recovery room, I was then moved to my permanent room.   It was rough, the hospital stay was the worst.  Not even the nurses were helpful.  They would leave me lying in bed for hours.  No offer of helping getting in and out to use the bathroom.   Anyways, I don't want to focus on the negative aspect.  I got released on Sunday about 12 pm.  It felt amazing to be resting at home.

The diet has taken some getting used to.  This is because  I can't to seem figure out the ounces part.  My dad is doing all the preparation so he isn't the best with it either.  I think  I can't figure out if I am full so that is hard for me.   I can say I am happy with the results so far.  Ive lost over 20lbs.  I just hate that I feel weak all the time.  Getting in all my protein is very difficult.    I am grateful for majority of the support I have received from coworkers and family.  Well I am sure I will have more to come.

Surgery Scheduled! Best Birthday Present!
on September 30, 2011 10:06 pm
So I found out this past Monday, my surgery is scheduled for this coming Friday, Oct 7th.  I am so happy!  It happens to be 4 days after my 29th birthday.   It's nice to know I can look forward to a healthy 30.   I know this is going to be  a rough next two weeks.  It sucks even more because my husband is deployed.   I am still dealing with the reality of it all.

My Story

Hi my name is Christina!   I am currently Pre-op, hoping to get the laparoscopic roux en y.   I am currently going through a pathway program in Fort Lewis, WA and just waiting to meet my surgeon.  My husband is currently deployed.  So I am doing this all on my own.  My family and most of my friends are back in NC.  I wish they could be here with me, but I am strong chica!

I have thought about doing this surgery for years but had never really known anyone to ge
t it done.   I have recently met so many people who have had it done with amazing results.   The older I am getting the more health problems (pre-diabetic/high blood pressure) are popping up.  Yikes! The scary part is that I am not even 29 yet!!! I realized over this last year, I have really let myself go (emotionally and physically).

I have always been the big girl in whatever situation I am in.  I almost feel like it has become my role.  That is very sad!  I love to run, dance, ski, swim, etc... but my body has gotten in the way.  I just don't want to go through the rest of my life in pain and unhappy with the way I look.  I am already making the changes necessary to improve my life.

Overall, I have gotten a good response from friends and family.   There are a few who I can tell don't think I will succeed.  It's a good thing I like proving people wrong.   Wish me luck on this journey.
