Surgeon Testimonial

Clark Warden M.D.
I've met Dr. Warden once at my first consult. I was pretty impressed by his ability to speak to me like a normal human. Don't get me wrong doctor's are great, I'm married to one, but sometimes that have a way of treating you like you're an idiot. Dr. Warden wasn't this way. He was very laid back and approachable. rnThe office staff was great. The nurse who assisted me was very nice and helpful. I was anxious and started asking her questions that I probably should have waited for the doctor to answer but she calmed my fears by answering the questions that were racing through my mind.

Hey!!
My name is Tajuana.  I've been overweight all of my life.
I am at my largest weight now, 292.  I am married and we have five children.  The saying that I hate most is, "what do you expect to be after having all those kids,  you're suppose to be big."  Well being that I was big before the kids came along I can't blame it off on them and it bothers me when other people do.

I was hoping to be a size 2 by now but what can I say - it didn't happen. But I am happy to report that I'm down 42lbs.  I started at 292 and now today which has been a little more than 2 months after the surgery I'm at 250.  I haven't started exercising yet and I know that I should... so tomorrow I'm going to look for an exercise bike or something like that because with five kids there is no way I can go to a gym or go to the walking track so I've gotta think of something I can do after they go to bed.

Well I made it through surgery!!!  When I went into the surgery I seriously considered jumping off the table and running out.  I stuck it out and now I'm so glad that I did.  I'm down 19 lbs.  and can't wait til the next pound comes off.
My surgery went GREATTTT!!!  I was in and out of surgery in an hour then a quick hour stay in recover and then I was back in my room watching Days of Our Lives and sipping on water and Crystal Light.  An hour after returning to my room I was able to take a shower and a quick walk down the hall.
By the next day I was fine but my surgeon, Dr. Warden, suggested that I stay another night since I lived three hours away.  That was fine with me because with five children my husband and I agreed it was kinda like a mini vacation.
We stayed in bed all day and watched TV.
My hospital stay was great from my surgeon to the nursing staff and facilities.  It could not have been better.
I'm pretty sure that having this surgery has been the best decision I've ever made.
Living with nothing but liquids hasn't been that bad.  It's more of a mind game.  It's like my mind thinks it needs to eat but my stomache doesn't feel hungry!

Really Nervous
on June 17, 2007 4:13 pm
I went in to see Dr. Warden about two weeks ago and was approved to have the surgery (bypass).  He ordered me to have blood work done at my normal physican since I'm an out of state patient.  After having that done he said I should be scheduled to have the surgery in less that two weeks.  Well things haven't been going my way.  When I got home and made an appointment to have my blood work done that morning I got bit by a spider on my stomache and ended up with a major infection.  So that has now put off me having my blood work done.  I was hoping by this time to be ready for surgery but I'm still in the beginning stages.  Other than the bite I've been hit with a severe case of the nerves.  I can't sleep with out having nighmares about the surgery or keep myself from wondering if the bite was a sign from God not to have the surgery done.  I know all this worry is normal but it is kinda weird.
All and all I'm trying to stay focused and positive.  Maybe I'll make it to surgery day!!!
