Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.
I'll write more about my battle with weight soon, but for now...I'm starting with the present. If you'd like to peek at my past, I did start a blog from before the surgery and wrote in it from time to time. I've been writing, as of late. itsaboutbeinghealthy.wordpress.com I've assigned myself a new weight loss challenge! 50 pounds in 3 months. I WILL weigh 50 pounds less on or before July 19, 2013. Stay tuned as I document my progress, pitfalls, (hopefully not too many of those), and methods to my madness!!! I've lost almost 200 pounds so far, but I've sort of reached a plateau. No more plateau for me! I'm going back to basics. PROTEIN FIRST!!! NO CARBS. NO SUGAR. That'll be my first week, beginning today. I'm going to stock up...

Its not about Skinny, its about Healthy

I've lost almost 200 pounds, so far! This has been the most amazing journey of my life. It's more than weight loss.... It's been a time of self discovery. When you weigh almost 400 pounds, you don't know who you are and can't imagine what it would be like to be any other way. It's just too overwhelming. If you're considering getting weight loss surgery, I had the Gastric Bypass, please do it. But, don't settle for the LEAST expensive, because you get what you pay for. That's all I"m saying about that. Ask questions, even the tough ones. Interview your doctor and don't be intimidated by him or her because HE works for YOU. I can't stress this enough!

Anyway, I have 50 more pounds to go..we'll 45, but I've been at a 10-15 pound plateau for a month or so. I've been tettering between 195-205. Finally, I'm firmly planted at 195 and I don't plan on visiting the 200's... EVER again. It's time to do some more walking, though. PLEASE TAKE NOTE: Walking works. My best friend, Tonya, who used to be over 300 pounds, but now wears a sizes 10 jeans and did it without surgery, used to tell me, "Marcy, JUST MOVE." And I thought, "That's easy for you to say!!!" But, its true. Just move. Go out and get the mail, everyday. Go back out and get the newspaper. Go back out and pull a weed. One weed. The next day, maybe you can go back out and pull 2 weeds. Those of you who are morbidly obese understand that these are actual goals and not just something silly that I'm saying. Do whatever you  have to do to get off the couch or out of bed.

I live in Apollo Beach, Florida... In June I'll be moving back to north Tampa, thank God! To those of you who live in Tampa and you're having a hard time MOVING... getting up, getting to the mailbox, etc.. I'll be happy to help get you started. Seriously. We all need help. We all need someone in our corner. It's just an offer from someone whose been there before.

Here's my email address: marcy.palmeri@gmail.com

If you haven't already gathered all your insurance info together and visited the various doctors, get your butt moving!!! It already takes a while to get approved. Don't let it take longer than it has to! Please! If you need encouragement, let me know. But please take the first step.

I'll write more soon. Read my BLOG: itsaboutbeinghealthy.wordpress.com

Also, here's my personal facebook page: facebook.com/palmeri.marcy

Talk to you soon, friends:)

11.23.11 Thanksgiving-eve
on November 23, 2011 8:18 am
Today marks my 3rd week after Bariatric - Gastric Bypass surgery. It seems like its been so much longer than 3 weeks. New discoveries and changes occur almost daily and I'm still attempting to discover what it means to be full, although, I'm getting the hang of when I should stop eating and how much is appropriate. There is one thing I'm not sure of, though. I get this feeling in my throat and then in my chest, as I eat and its very disturbing. It might be that I'm eating too fast or that my food isn't small enough to pass through. I've decided not to do the whole puree thing. I'm chewing my food until its completely masticated! All suggestions are welcome:)

As far as Thanksgiving goes, my 14 year old daughter and I are going to Boca Raton with my boyfriend and his 16 year old daughter to visit with his friends, who I have yet to meet. They aren't familiar with gastric bypass surgery and I wouldn't expect them to have something there specifically for me, anyway. I'm going to make something edible for all, that I'll be able to eat, as well. I am going to partake in the turkey and if they have sweet potatoes, I'll have a teaspoon with nothing on it merely for the beta-carotene. I had my very first salad yesterday and it was awesome! Romaine lettuce, tomatoes, shredded carrots with balsamic vinegar and a drizzle of olive oil.

Please share your daily routine with me. I haven't really seen a day by day diary on what people are eating, and doing. What about exercise. I know what they say we should be doing, but I want to know straight from the horses mouth:)

So, 1 hour and 49 minutes ago, it was Halloween. Halloween! CANDY is how I spell it and what a temptation it was. I've never seen so many children show up at my door with pillow cases and pumpkin heads waiting for me to add to their loot. I've done sooo well lately with my diet. I'm losing weight.. and for the most part, its a liveable situation. HOWEVER...
That's right... I said it and you know what it meant. About an hour ago, the candy was staring straight at me. These particular candies were purchased because they don't meet the criteria of the type of candy I'd typically injest. ergo Chocolate. Theres Twizlers, those disgusting lolly pops, sour fish, etc. HOWEVER.. as unappealling as they are, they found their way into the deep abiss, better known as my mouth! How did I go this long without embracing the incredibleness of a sour fish?

I'm justifying it... for the last time. There are no more days left to cheat.. And.. from what I've heard, "Thin tastes better than ANY food." GOOD-BYE CARRABBAS. We've had some good times, you and me. Your Pollo Rosa Maria is to die for. FARWELL EGGPLANT PARMESEAN. We knew each other well. We were friends till the end!

A fuller, more exuberant life awaits! Rich with the flavor of life. A life that can now be shared with others; not that of a spectator.
