Had My Surgery August 16, 2011

Well I had my gastric bypass surgery on August 16th I was in ICU for 2 days and remained in the hospital for another 7 days due to Pnuemonia and a open wound that still has not healed.  I am having to go and get it packed every few days and I have a vacumn pump that keeps it vacumned out.  I am still in a  lot of pain and I can not seem to eat very much at all!!!  I am having a real hard time getting protiens in and I am on so many antibiotics :(  I have lost weight that is a plus but I am so ready to be pain free!!!!  I started out on the day of surgery at 266 and I am now as of today 245.6.... Just praying that I feel better soon... this wound is the worst part of it all and it is so painful :(

My new journey is about to begin!!!!!!!!

I am having surgery(RNY) on Tuesday of this week and I am scared, excited and freaked out!!!!!   I am so ready to see what is in store for me in the future and I know that with this tool I will be a better me :)  I just want to be healthy and be able to do simple things without giving out of breath.... I want to be able to play with my neices and Nephew.  I want to adopt children to call my own!!!  I know that this is going to open so many new doors for me!!!  I am so grateful that God opened this door an I give Him all the the glory :)   I am ready to start this new chapter in my life!!!!   Lets get it started!!!!!

I got a call from the bariatric nurse on Wednesday and she said that there is one more surgery ahead of me!!!!!!!  It is really gonna happen!!!!!   I am soooo nervous, but in a good way!!!  She said that she would call towards the end of this month and give me a definate date!!!  It will be in July is what she said... I am so beside myself and I never dreamed this would happen for me and I am walking on cloud 9 right now!!!  I just have to work really hard to keep my blood sugars down... I am so happy!!!  Thank you Lord!!!

My Story

My name is Tammy and I am 39 years old... will be 40 in September.  I am married to the most wonderful man in the world!  He is in the Army and we are stationed at Fort Hood, Texas.  I have been overweight most all of my life...well since the age of 8 or 9.  I was diagnosed in 1996 with diabetes and have been on and off insulin over the years.  I am now on 2 types of insulin and take an average of 5 shots a day.  I am on high bloodpressure meds. and cholesterol meds as well.  I have never considered having WLS because people always told me that I would not qualify because I was not big enough... I don't know who they were looking at!!!   I am 6' tall but I am 266 pounds and I am miserable and I have always felt this way... I have tried every diet that I could find, I would lose 20 pounds at the most and it always came back!!!  I have now decided to have Gastric Bypass surgery and I am really excited!!!  I am on the list and should be getting a date soon!!!   They said be ready for a date in July 2011 and I am more than ready!!  I want to feel better and look better, I have always felt like a thin girl in a huge body... I have always felt restricted because of my weight.  I am so ready for this journey!!!  I have talked to many people and went to group meetings and this is what I want to do!!!  Yay!!!
