9 months out, down 182lbs. Feeling great.
Still learning not to bite off more than I can chew. Still have to take tiny bites and eat really slow or stuff gets stuck. But hey we should all eat like that anyway. Also, no cereal...I am convinced it is for life. Even the healthy ones. They just don't work.
I don't go on here much anymore because I am so busy. But I am very thankful for this support group. I have met some wonderful friends and the support and encouragement I have recieved has been unmeasurable. I am forever thankful to each person who gave me a word of wisdom or courage. I have been blessed.
I still have a way to go on my weight loss and of course all my problems have not been solved. I hope no one goes into this thinking that is the case. However, it has helped me to be more confident towards overcoming my personal issues achieving my goals. Doors of opportunity have been swinging open and I am secure enough to see them and what they are offering.
I am healthy, happy and feel great. What more can I ask for.
1/28/07 The Gym is the place to be. My weght loss had slowed down quite a bit. But I went back to the gym regularly for the last two weeks and I am feeling great and the weight is falling off again. Down to a size 16 and can squeeze into a 14. I like to breathe though, LOL.
Some wonderful things have happened in my life lately and I am so happy that I am healthy and able to enjoy them. It is not about being thin, it is about being healthy.
1/10/07 HAPPY NEW YEAR! I had my 6 month post op appointment yesterday. It went very well. I was worried that my labs would be off or that I had not lost enough weight. I have lost a total of 150lbs, and 110 since surgery which is 52% of excess weight. They were very pleased. It was so nice to get a good report. I have been very happy with UCDAVIS and would highly recommend them to anyone.
I am feeling well and have not been having any issues lately. Well, except I have to be careful withh vegetables, they seem to upset my stomach and actually cause some cramping. I am going to experiment with different types and ways of cooking them as well. Any suggestions are gladly taken. I can't give up my veggies now that I have them back.
Feel free to email me. I miss all of you, I have been super busy and never make it to the chat room anymore. I wish you all the best and a very happy new year.
12/21/2006 Well, I only lost 12 pounds this month. Slowing down a bit. I know it is cause I need to get back to the gym more regularly. I know the problem is that I try to schedule the gym in, rather than scheduling around the gym. Anyway, I still feel better everyday and I am so glad that I did this. My health is so much better. I was having some problems with leg cramps and headaches, but I started really pushing the water and they went away. SO DRINK up!!! Those leg cramps hurt like hell.
I was even confident enough to send out christmas cards with a picture of the boys and myself....that felt good.
Merry Christmas Everyone and see you next year.
11/21/06 I have not updated in a while geesh! So I am doing great. I have lost a total of 130 pounds since May, 90 pounds since July (surgery). So about 30lbs a month. I really need to get back on the Gym wagon though. The cold weather has discouraged me from going to water aerobics, which was so wonderful. So now I need to be brave and try out the machines. I have no more sleep Apnea, no more high blood pressure, no more aches and pains in my legs and ankles. I am loving life. I have went down 8 sizes to a size 18 and I am 4 months out. It feels awesome. I never could have made it without the support of my family, friends and UC Davis medical team who has been behind me 100% the whole way. I will post a new picture soon.
7/21/2006 Well I am 5 days post-op and can't believe I am finally here. Docs said surgery went perfect. UC davis was totally awesome...I love them. I am pretty sore, swollen and bruised. I have not lost a pound...but they say that is normal the first week. First couple of days were rough...but I am feeling much better today. On the liquid proteins diet stage...boring lol...thats okay. Not much of an appetite at all.
