Adolfo Fernandez My surgeon Adolfo Fernandez best known by his staff & patients as FUZZ is a wonderful man, surgeon, dr, etc. The first time I saw him was at a support group mtg I attended with a friend who had RNY by Fuzz, I thought gosh he looks really young but man he's good looking. Then when he talked & answered questions I realized how intelligent he was & that he really knew his stuff when it came to WLS. He has always been very nice when I've seen him. He came in the "holding" room before my surgery & talked a while to me, my momma, Ma & my bff Becca. Becca took a pic of me & him~gotta figure out how to get it downloaded so you all can see him too. His nurse Elizabeth is one of my favorite ppl that I've dealt with. She is sooooo sweet & just down to earth. Also, Jeff the psychologist & Amber the nutritionist are very good at what they do. The aftercare program they offer & how they make sure you understand what you have to do & need to do to succeed is awesome. They are all there & willing to help at any time. Everyone I've had to deal with~Fuzz, Elizabeth, Amber, Jeff, other hospital staff, EVERYBODY~has been great to me & I truly believe it was b/c of their care & concern for me that made my whole preop, surgery, hospital stay & now post op so easy for me to deal with. I can't say enough how great Fuzz & his staff are. I would recommend & do recommend him to anyone that has asked or may ask about a WLS surgeon

Ok this is probably gonna sound so stupid but I'm more nervous about June 30th when I have to start my 3 wk liquid diet than I am about the actual surgery. I'm so scared I'm gonna fail on the liquid diet. Considering I have so many ppl supporting me don't understand what I'm worried about; I reckon from feeling like I've failed on every other diet I've ever been on. A few of my friends at work are talking about doing the liquid diet with me Mondays thru Fridays of those 3 wks & my momma & Ma have already started getting things together to have at their house for those 3 wks & when I come over to visit....how nice is that. I really do have some great family & friends. And can I just say how thankful I am I found this website & have so many ppl to inspire me you all are truly get friends too. Pls pray for me about the 3 wk liquid diet AND pray for my 3 kids that will be dealing with me .....hehehehehe. Goodnight.
Hugs to all~TC

Hey thanks so much for the sweet comments on my photo's! I'm so happy for you that you have a date!! Just do the best you can on the liquid diet, I remember that and it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. I ate a lot of soups, jello, but it helps so much when you get to surgery!! You'll be fine!! I tell myself when I think I can't do something hard, that nothing is as hard as dragging all that weight I had around!! Truly!! When they say nothing tastes as good as thin feels...........I understand that now! You will do AWESOME!!! It won't be long now!!! Sending lots of prayers and hugs your way!! ~Hugs, Steffanie

You will be fine!! It's really not that bad! This is actually day 3 of my "official" pre-op diet but I started last Monday and then did it so-so all last week. I am not doing so bad. I feel like I am actually eating more than I usually eat because I am trying to make a conscious effort to eat regularly, which can be difficult at work! I eat my oatmeal in the mornings as soon as I get to work and then do a protein shake mixed with water around morning break and then have a grilled chicken salad at lunch. In the afternoon, I usually have some cucumber slices for break and then have a protein shake made with skim milk, frozen strawberries, a few ice cubes, protein powder, and a couple of packs of splenda for my dinner at night. It's pretty good and it works for me! Anyway, I wish you the best of luck and I know you are strong.....You can do it girl!!!! HUGS!!!! See ya soon! Ginger :o)

Ugh I will never understand why some programs require such a LONG liquid diet. It is so unnecessary. I'm pulling for you, girl! Just prepare to never have jello, popsicles, or broth ever again lol. You will be sick to death of them. (hugs)

3 week liquid diet? That sounds really tough, but I'm sure you'll prevail! :-)
I only have to be on clear liquids for 24 hrs prior to surgery. I suppose different Bypass programs have different types of "rules".

Sweetie....
You will do fine! I thought that I was going to die the first 2 days of the liquid diet, but once those first few days were over I was on my way. My body got used to it, just make sure that you have plenty of different things to drink, I lived for crystal light (although I bought the off brand at walmart.) I was thrilled to watch the weight drop just over those 3 weeks.... it was amazing and I felt like I was already well on my way once the wheeled me in for surgery! Just continue to keep your head up.... don't over indulge the night before you start your liquid diet, it makes it harder. But do enjoy one of your favorite food, cuz it will be awhile before you can have it again. Good luck!!

I hope the liquid diet is coming along well. I'm on atkins for 2 weeks, and that sucks, so I can't only imagine your pain. I'll be on liquids two weeks after. Congratulations on your surgery date too!! We're gonna be hott! ;D
