50 lbs down!
on May 31, 2010 1:04 pm
I am very proud that I have now given away 2 sizes of clothes and am seeing an amazing difference in my body.  I am getting pretty concerned about the skin/flab issue.  I am excersicing every day and have even taken that down a notch to slow my weight loss as I'm hoping that might help with the skin issue.  I could hardly make it 5 minutes on the elliptical without stopping 3 months ago and now I'm doing 20 minutes with no problems and lifting weights when I"m done. Pretty awesome feeling!
I got a bit off track in the middle of the month with my food choices...I took a new job and was very concerned with telling my amazing current boss that I was leaving as she and I are very close.  I let my old habits of dealing with stress creep in and the scale didn't move for two weeks! Luckily, I caught myself and am back on track. Knowing its going to be so much easier to recover from a bad decision since my surgery makes it very simple to motivate myself again.
Here's to another 50!

First Date :)
on March 27, 2010 11:55 am
My husband took me on our first date after my surgery last night. We haven't even been married a year and it was so special to be able to just have a normal meal with him again after all the liquid diets, shakes, and surgery stuff.  I had some sauteed fish, black beans, and even a little guacamole :)
It was nice to be able to eat more normally again. I was scared I might get sick, but it was fine.  He must have told me I was hot like ten times...so nice to hear!  I cannot wait to see what he says when I'm down 30 more pounds.  I am so blessed by how supportive he has been through all of this and now I am grateful I get to enjoy things with him again without being unhealthy or having to feel guilty.  Life is good :)

My Story

I was super athletic and thin growing up, but college started and I ballooned quickly.  After losing 70 lbs all on my own about three years ago and getting down to 170 lbs, I was ecstatic.  Then suddenly with stress, health issues, and genetics I found myself up to about 240 pounds right before my WEDDING! I wanted to cancel the photographer and wear black instead of white.  Luckily, even I thought I was a beautiful (though heavier than I had ever thought possible) bride.  After 6 months of marriage to a wonderful man that happens to LOVE food as well, I was up to 260 pounds and not as happy as I'd like to be.  I watched my mother struggle with her weight my whole life and have always feared having children because of what it would do to my body/weight.  At this point though I was afraid to even become pregnant with all this extra weight.  When I went to my consult with Dr Kim, he agreed.  Since we are planning on trying for children in the next year or two, this seemed to be the perfect time to take serious steps to get and keep my health in check.  I am terrified and excited.  I thought the surgery would be awful, but it wasn't.  I hope to stay out of my own way and continue my success to becoming the healthy, active person I miss so much.
