    Thank you all for your kind comments! I'm doing my mental prep...It just happens to be on the beach watching the sunrise. Guess there are a few advantages to being self pay and able to pick your doctor and locale. It's all good right now while I'm just Waiting For My Real Life to Begin. Once again, Thanks. Looking forward to seeing you on the Dark Side.

Hello all!  Well I have left this profile totally blank for over a year so I guess it's time I finally put something in here.  I am still a Pre-Op who will be self-pay. (Ouch, does that kill the pocket book.)  I try not to let my envy show too much for those of you with enlightened employers who cover WLS.

I am planning on the DS because I only want, and can afford, to have one operation and the DS has by far the best long-term results.

Anyways I'll add more later so it's Bye for now.

Figuring out where's the starting line...
on August 31, 2008 9:03 am
Well now that the 'race to the real me' is officially on I realize I didn't have a very defined starting line so this is my attempt to do just that.

Like most MO individuals my weight has fluctuated vastly over the years with various weight loss attempts and I am still loath to reveal the actual number so determining the appropriate high and low rates really aren't as easy as just picking a point in time number. What I intend to do is use my surgical weight as my base line and then have 2 highest weights -- the one that was the highest and then the high weight I spent most of my recent (w/in the last year or 2) time at.

Therefore my absolute highest was 36 pounds above my surgical weight with real latest highest being 20 pounds above my surgical weight.

HW1 = +36
HW2 = +20
SW = weight at final surigical preappt.
AW = weight scale says today.
CW = SW - AW

Anyway to continue complicating an extremely easy process as of 6 days out I am down sixteen pounds (-16) from SW and down 36 pounds (-36) from HW2 .
(I am curious how much of that is water weight loss but I continue to work on getting at least 64 oz of fluids in a day.)

Working things out
on August 15, 2008 10:45 pm

Well I have accomplished the seemingly impossible...completed all of my pre-op testing within 8 days when I was told by my health care provider that I wouldn't be able to do it in 30 days.

Time now to test out my 'ticker':
