It may sound weird now, but know that you are cared for and prayed for here, and all too soon this will be but a memory and you will be an inspiration to someone else. 3/22/08 Possible bad news, but I hope not!
on March 22, 2008 8:12 am
I went to my scheduled fill appt. earlier this week and received some possible bad news.  I had regained the little weight I'd lost from doing the pouch test (even while sticking to the rules) and according to his records I had only lost 1 pound from 6 weeks ago when I had my last fill.  That was disappointing to say the least.  The Doc checked my fill level and discovered once again that there was much less saline in my band than what he'd put in.  Once again I had to get an esophagram done.

One thing the Doc did differently this time is fill me all the way up to 4cc's of saline and I have a 4cc band.  He says this is most likely not the max b/c my band can hold a little more than 4cc's, but it's still scary to know that I don't have much left to go.  I still have about 35-40 more pounds to lose.  This fill is definitely a kicker b/c my very first night after my fill I had the worst experience of being stuck than I've ever had since getting the band a year ago.  I actually thought I was overfilled b/c it lasted for 4 hours and I even vomited.  I was even going to go to the ER that night.  I haven't had to vomit since before I was banded so this was very scary for me.  I hope my band is okay.  I'll know in a couple of weeks when I go back to check my fill level and the results of my test.  That was about 5 days ago and I haven't had anymore problems since then.  I'm definitely eating less now and I'm glad I didn't go get an unfill.   I think the best thing I did after that night was have one full day of liquids the next day.  I was afraid to eat anyway.  Well, I guess I'll just hope for the best b/c I really don't want another surgery whether it be minor or not.

3/8/08 It's my one year Bandiversary!
on March 8, 2008 10:07 am
I cancelled my fill scheduled for February because I still had restriction.  At around the end of February I began to realize I could eat way too much food and my next scheduled fill wasn't until the end of March.  I read something on one of these boards about RNY patients who wanted to shrink their pouches by doing a 5 day pouch test.  I researched the test and decided to try it out for myself even though I had the lap-band.  Turns out that was one of the best decisions I've made in a long time.  Not only do I feel more restriction now that the test is over, but I also broke my plateau and I've finally reached 196 pounds this morning!  I am so excited about finally being in Onederland!

I have to admit I never really thought it mattered if you drank with your meals or not, or if you only ate within a certain time period.  Now I'm convinced this works.  From this point forward I will eat my meals within 20 minutes and stop whenever it's time.  I also plan to not drink with my meals because I do feel full faster when I do this.  I'm not feeling like I deprive myself.  I'm really trying to listen to my body because it does tell me when I'm satisfied.  It took me one full year to finally get it, and one little test proved it to me.
