Surgeon Testimonial

David Provost, M.D.
Dr David Provost has been a God Send. He took me on when other physician's ran for cover. I was severly malnourished, and he reversed my RYGB. He comes highly recommended.

Just talked to Kim and all is good. She is sore and groggy. I will be going to see her tomorrow as the first day of surgery is always rough. Her husband is up at the hospital with her now. She wanted me to thank you all for your support.

My Story

I had RYGB 7/23/07.  I have had problems every since.  First, let me start by saying that I did not have a good WLS surgery team.  My Surgeon is very good at doing surgery, but only that.  I was NEVER told that I needed to walk while I was in the hospital.  I slept through the whole thing.  I was given the wrong information about what vitamins to take afterward (and how much to take.) The other thing is that the complications (all of them) were not given to me.  I only was given the main ones with the highest percentage rate.
Aug 22, 2007 I was already having an Upper GI because of severe nausea and vomiting, but it showed nothing.  When I had the EGD done 8/24/07, it showed that I had a stricture so bad that my esophagus was almost closed completely.  They dilated it.  I was dilated two more times after that.
9/24/07 I had my third endoscopy and it came back clear, so they scheduled me for a sonogram.  That showed a little bit of sludge in my gallbladder.  The doctor had no idea what else could be causing me to be so nauseated, so he removed it.  About three months later,  the nausea stopped.  I stopped loosing weight.
I found out I was pregnant about a month or two after that, and it started all over again.  I was
extremely nauseous.  Five months into the pregnancy, I was put on the bed rest.  At six months, I was hospitalized and put on TPN.  My failure started failing at 36wks pregnancy, and so the induced labor at 36wks.  While I was in the hospital, the told me that I was going to have to do SOMETHING when after I had the baby because I couldn't get enough nutrition.  I scheduled an appointment with my surgeon.
He told me that it sounded like I had a hernia.  He scheduled lap surgery.  He found and fixed two hernias and told me that I should get better soon.  I didn't.  When I went back two to three weeks later, he told me that it would take a while because my intestines had been kinked up.  He told me it would take a little bit more time.
It never went away.  I went back in because my bones were popping out and he told me that I would stop loosing on my own at 2yrs post op.  I waited impatiently.  It didn't stop.  I lost so much weight that my tail bone was cutting into me.  I insisted on them doing something, so I got a gastrostomy tube 7/09.
I gained a little weight at first, but I started losing agian.  I finally hit a point where I was so malnourished that I couldn't hold my head up.  I went to two other physicians for help. The second one (Dr David Provost) has been a God Send.
I had my RYGB reversed 10/23/08.  I finally have got my health back.  It feels so good.  There are good physician's out there.
