Surgeon Testimonial

Norbert Richardson, M.D.
Hi, I had to change surgeons due to my original surgeon not practicing anymore. I have an appointment with Dr. Richardson in July at DesPeres Hospital in St. Louis. I'm sure I will like him, he has done over 1000 Rny's so I am looking forward to meeting with him to see what he says.rn

Weight Goal Reached ********
on June 20, 2010 8:46 am
I know it's been almost a year since I have blogged, sorry I just not a good blogger, but I will try harder from now on.

I wanted to update everyone on my progress, I finally reached my goal of 145 pounds, this morning I was 143.6.  I never thought that I would see the day that this would be accomplished, but I DID IT and I'm proud of myself (sorry if I seem to be bragging).

I do have a question, my ticker says "goal reached", If I want to go lower to another goal do I just start all over again with like 10 lbs to lost or just add to my initial weight goal.

Thanks for all of your help and support throughout my journey and more to come.

I'm Home from the Hospital
on August 8, 2009 11:24 am
Well it has been an adventure so far.  Nothing really went wrong, except they took my IV's out on Tuesday, forgetting that I have low potassium, so come time to go home on Wednesday blood work comes back and my potassium has bottomed out at 2.1 (not good).  So here comes the bag of IV's again with potassium.  I did finally get to go home but not until 5:15 pm.

The only thing that really bothers me right now is the drain that they leave in.  I go back on Monday, Aug 10, 2009 to get that removed, YEAH !!!!!!!!!!!!!  You just can't get comfortable at all and you have to pin it to your clothes.  It's just yucky!

I'm not really hungry, having to set my phone alarm to remind me to eat or drink.

That's all for now.

My Pre-Op Weight Seems Slow!!
on July 29, 2009 6:59 pm
I don't know if it is just me or what.  But I have only lost 6 pounds on my pre-op diet.  I started this on July 21st.  I just hope that they will still do the surgery since I haven't lost a whole lot.  I had abalsion surgery this past Friday (OBGYN) and I know they inflate you with air, but I just thought it would all be gone by now.  They never said anything about losing a certain amount of weight pre-op. Has anyone else only lost 6 pounds and had their surgery? Just curious!

Started my Pre-op liquid diet today!!
on July 21, 2009 7:32 pm
Well I haven't posted for awhile.  So to get things caught up---- I went yesterday, 7/20/09 to see Dr. Richardson and the dietitian. That all went well, just had to wait a few hours.  This is my first day of the clear liquid pre-op and I just can't seem to get the hang of this yet.  I know it will take alot of adjusting on my part.  I bought the EAS protein powder and it did not want to mix well at all with anything, it was the vanilla flavor, I think I may need to invest in the unjury unflavored to see what that is like.

That is all for now, i will track my weight here daily as I can.

I Got A Surgery Date. Yipee!!!!!
on June 4, 2009 6:40 pm
Hi,

Just had to tell everyone that I finally have a surgery date.  It's August 3rd.  A little ways off but it will be here before I know it.  Hopefully time will fly by.  My former doctor's office from Herrin, (that is no longer practicing) they are faxing my records to St. Louis to Dr. Richardson at Des Peres Hospital.  I keep thinking "It's going to be ok", but my former doctor sure caused alot of us   set backs.  St. Louis are accepting all of his patients, however the new doctors requires some different testing, which is another obstacle that we all have to go through.

Well I will not grip anymore, sorry it's just really frustrating and the more I think about it, the worse I feel.  I know St. Louis is just about 2-1/2 hours away, but compared to 15 minutes, thats a BIG difference.

Thanks for listening and letting me vent.  Sorry.

My Story

Well to begin my story is probably like alot of other members.  I have always been overweight.  As a child growing up my mother didn't cook alot and my dad would usually stop at McDonald's or some other fast food place and pick up supper on his way home from work.  I had a loving home, just maybe not so healthy.  I was usually made fun of and the last one to be picked at recess for softball of "Red Rover, Red Rover". LOL  As in junior high school my weight stayed about the same.  During high school I did slim down some what to a decent size.  I did the usually running around thing after graduation until I met my husband.  We had a daughter and I kept my weight off.  Then 5 years later we had a son and I had gestiontial diabetes and was told that I had a good chance of being diabetic within 5-7 years after his birth.  Well you know the rest, I never got back down to that weight.  Time went on, gained more weight and was diagonsis as a diabetic on January of 2004.  I was put on the diabetic diet by a dietation and did loose 40 pounds, but there again I couldn't keep it off.  I have vertigo (dizziness) alot and I'm on medication for that.  I have hypertention, was hospitalized for very dangerously low potassium, which I didn't realize was such a important part of your heart, bone spurs and alot of extras that I won't bore you with.  I had joined a gym and have been on every diet I can image, I do loose the weight but just can't seem to keep it off.  My husband and I went to Dr. Alex Argotte's seminar at Lourdes Houspital in Paducah, Ky last year and we are going again this Thursday, 07/31/08.  I would like very much to go thru with it this time.  I would like to have the Vertical Sleeve if possible.  My weight is around 240 and my BMI was 40.1 last time I checked.  I want to try to go ahead a loose some now because my daughter is getting married on January 10, 2009 and I want to look my best for her, even though she said I'm fine the way I am.  So as of right now that is pretty much my story.  I will let you know what goes on Thursday at the seminar.  I have lots of questions!!

Thanks for listening & until next time,
Teresa
