Andrew Averbach, M.D. I met Dr. Averbach at one of his seminars at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore and I immediately thought he was the one. I then scheduled a consultation in his office a few days later. His office staff was wonderful and very helpful and organized. His office has a very structured pre and post surgery program to include nutritional guidelines, psychiatric evaluation and support group attendance recommendations. After meeting with him, I felt more at ease about risks and and anticipated complications. I am confident he has the surgcial competence to perform this surgery on me.
Congrats on becoming
a loser today Terri.
I know you'll do
just great!! I wish
you a speedy
recovery, and look
forward to hearing
about all of your
successes.
Countdown to Surgery Day 8 What can I say- I am hanging in there. Had my chest xray yesterday got that over with. Sent forms to the Doctor to complete. Been on the message boards with my new friends and it is helping me keep a postive outlook. Nobody in family is checking in on me asking me how I am feeling or doing. Planning to start walking today wish me luck!

I have the same problem...all of my family knows about what I am going to do...but no one will actually talk to me about it...My mother doesnt even mention it..though yesterday she did ask me when I was going to have "the surgery"..."the surgery"....like its a disease...I am the 2nd heaviest person in my family, so they really dont understand why I chose this surgery...though it is soo damn easy for them to say all you need to do is watch what you eat and exercise..Ok...
My husband was very supportive of me in the beginning...(he is obese too) he went to the seminar, consulation and even to the Glen Burnie monthly support meeting..we even discussed him getting the surgery next year...but now he has it in his mind that I am going to change and divorce him and Im only doing this to look better...etc etc etc...Hell, if he continues to act the way he is right now..yes, divorce will be the next step...no joke...lol...
So if you need someone to talk to, Im here..cause Im going through the being shunned because of my decision too..
Besides the people on this board..their is only one friend who has been supportive of me...Its a genteman that I work with..(he does not have a weight problem)...Whenever I come in late or am out..he asks me if I went to the doctor and is very inquisitive about whats going on my "next step"..Makes me feel a little better, but sure wish it was my husband asking those questions....
