God said, "No. I give you blessings. Happiness is up to you." ~ Author Unknown "Goals give you more than a reason to get up in the morning; they are an incentive to keep you going all day. Goals tend to tap the deeper resources and draw the best out of life. Dan Kuschell "The most important question to ask is not 'What am I getting?' The most important question to ask on the job is 'What am I becoming?'"You are never given a wish without also being given the power to make it true. Face the truth." ~ Katherine Mansfield "Too often we are scared. Scared of what we might not be able to do. Scared of what people might think if we tried. We let fears stand in the way of our hopes. We say no when we want to say yes. We sit quietly when we want to scream. And we shout with the others, when we should keep our mouths shut. Why? After all, we do only go around once. There's really no time to be afraid. JUST DO IT." ~ Nike advertising campaign "I am convinced that attitude is the key to success or failure in almost any of life's endeavors. Your attitude - your perspective, your outlook, how you feel about yourself, how you feel about other people - determines your priorities, your actions, your values. Your attitude determines how you interact with other people and how you interact with yourself." ~ Carolyn Warner "Happiness lies for those who cry, those who hurt, those who have searched, and those who tried, for only they can appreciate the importance of people who have touched their lives." ~ Author Unknown "It's never too late to be what you might have been." ~ George Eliot "For every beauty there is an eye somewhere to see it. For every truth there is an ear somewhere to hear it. For every love there is a heart somewhere to receive it." ~ Author Unknown "Whatever you do, you need courage. Whatever course you decide upon, there is always someone to tell you you are wrong. There are always difficulties arising which tempt you to believe that your critics are right. To map out a course of action and follow it to the end, requires some of the same courage which a soldier needs." ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson A wish changes NOTHING; A decision, changes EVERYTHING "So many of our dreams at first seem impossible, then they seem improbable, and then, when we summon the will, they soon become inevitable." If I had to do it again...
on September 2, 2008 3:40 am
I think I would choose lap band.  I have had 7 surgeries for obstructions, adhesions and my stomach being twisted and stuck to my back.
Most recently I switched hospitals and ended up having to have my entire stomach removed.
I am NOT pleased with Arnot at all.  My original surgeon left and the one who took over said there was nothing wrong with me.  HA!  It was serious.  They are a joke and I would NEVER recommend them to ANYONE...not even for my dogs.
Sorry to seem so harsh but I am angry and have every right to be.  They could have killed me!!!
And I'm down to 104 lbs.  WAY too much weight loss.

Ugh! Not again...
on August 17, 2007 1:17 pm
So it seems that I may have adhesions once again.  It is SO painful.  Going to try to stick it out for about a month before they go back in to remove these ones.  Also, I'm still losing weight which scares me.  I was around 130 in May and now I'm down to 115.  I'm eating good but still losing - even my surgeon is stumped.  He told me to keep eating like a piggy to hopefully prevent any more weight loss.  So I guess it's like a waiting game.  I've outgrown (or under-grown) all of my clothes.  I'm down to a 4/5 and only have one pair of pants and one pair of shorts that fit me without falling down.  I had assumed the weight loss was over once I hit 130 and I definitely can't afford to keep going shopping.  Anyway, that is my newest news.  All the best to all of you!

2 Year Anniversary
on May 18, 2007 5:41 am
I am now 2 years post-op.  Some days I can't even remember being over 300 lbs.  Unfortunately, I have another obstruction caused by adhesions so I will be having surgery again on Monday.  This is the 3rd obstruction since October.  I don't regret having WLS as it has made me a whole new person (or half of the person I was!).  Hopefully this will be the last surgery I will have to endure.

Another Update
on May 2, 2007 12:26 pm
Things seem to be going fairly well for the most part.  Still having some troubles.  My dr. thinks I have an uncler again and that more adhesions have formed so all those tests will begin next week.  It's frustrating for him and for me both at this point.  He did say that if it were only adhesions inside this time (and not the obstructions) that he could do the procedure laparoscopically so hopefully that would give it less of a chance to form new adhesions.
The weight still seems to be falling off me.  I really thought it would have stopped a long time before now but I guess I was wrong.  I am eating good but he wants me to increase my proteins and eat more meats like pork chops and steaks because he doesn't want me to lose any more weight either.

Ups & Downs
on February 19, 2007 11:30 am
Hi everyone.

It's been a while since I've updated so I thought I should take a moment and do that.  I just had surgery once again on 2/7.  They found adhesions and my stomach was twisted and stuck to my back.  My last surgery was on 10/30/06 when I had an obstruction in my intestine.  I'm hoping this is the last surgery for a very long time!

I'm down to 135 lbs.  I need to get some new pics updated on this page.

I hope everyone is doing amazingly well.
