Surgeon Testimonial

Monte Schwartz, M.D., FACS
My first impression was that Dr. Schwartz was very professional, and detail in his approach. This impression did not change as the process went on. His staff has continued to be very helpful as both my wife and I have had RNY procedures. The staff took a personal approach to our procedures and healing. Also, they were willing to set up multiple follow up appointments and assist in processing short term disability paperwork. They had an excellent surgery preparation seminar and support group meetings are held weekly. Dr. Schwartz helped me feel that this wasn't a \"cookie cutter\" surgery, but addressed the entire process with a personalized approach. His staff is FAB.

11 months out: Big Set-back-- Broken Hip
on February 6, 2008 7:07 pm
A few days after my last post, on Jan 11th, I was leaving for an early morning bike ride, and my front tire slipped on some ice.  Before I knew it, I had fallen on my left side, breaking my left hip.  A few hours later I was in surgery having a plate and a bunch of screws permantly added to my hip.  A month later, my condition is getting better, but I'm still unable to put any weight on my left leg.  Per my doctor, I'm still looking at another 4-6 weeks before returning to work.  Life has had to slow WAAAY down, and I'm home on short term disability.  Definately a big adjustment to go from triathlon training to old man "walker" training.  I only have to take pain medicine to sleep at night now, which is good.
