Surgeon Testimonial

Adam Smith, D.O., F.A.C.O.S
I met with Dr. Smith on 2/7/07. He was very nice and laid back. He went through everything with me and he felt I would be a great candidate for surgery. He let me feel the port under his skin to see what it is like. He was extremely professional. He is very big on aftercare and overall change of life habits. rnrnI can't say enough about Dr. Smith. Since he is a Lap-band patient himself, he truly understands what we are going through. Susee, his nurse, is a lap-band patient as well as is always there to assist the patients.rnrnDr. Smith is well respected in the medical community and I felt 100% confident with him providing my surgery. He is very educated on the lap-band surgery and has great bedside manner.rnrnI had some issue with getting fills in the beginning. Availability was hard! They have worked on the fill issues. They have another doctor now and it is easy to get in for a fill within a few days.rnrnI highly recommend Dr. Smith and I would do it again in a heart beat. They have commended me along the way and held me accountable. I could have never done it without Dr. Smith and Susee cheering me on!rn

Struggle
on October 29, 2007 8:52 am
I went out of town to take care of my father in the hospital. I just don't understand. I couldn't keep anything down. I tried to eat one chicken tender and threw it all up. Then, I tried to eat mashed potatos another day and threw those up?

I know this is horrible to say but I would have a protien shake (35g) in the mornings and a small bag of cheetos for a meal. It was the only thing I can keep down.

I don't know if it had to do with traveling, stress, change in climate messes with your band? Do you all have this trouble??

75 Pounds Gone...
on October 23, 2007 4:23 am
Well, I did it! I finally hit 75 lost today (actually 75.2 pounds). I thought it would never get here. I am so excited!

I am only 13.4 pounds away from being under 300. That will be so exciting!

Stall
on October 22, 2007 6:31 am
I guess it is normal to hit a plateau. I just haven't experienced it much over the last seven months. I have been the same for about two weeks. I mean I haven't gained but haven't lost tons. I should be grateful!

I have really evaulated the food I am eating. Am I being careful and being mindful of the food I am supposed to be eating. I know that I am following most of the band rules I am just really trying to look at the food I am chosing and if it more protien driven!

The weather is cooling down so I am hoping that hubby and I will walk every night. We walked last night and the week before. Last week I was in San Antonio at a conference. I walked every night on the Riverwalk so I know that I got my exercise in there.

I am going to be watching myself over the next few weeks to really be mindful of what I am putting in my body and that I am closing monitoring carb intake!

6 Month Check Up Great
on October 5, 2007 10:57 am
Well, I went to Dr. Smith on Wednesday for my six month check up. He said I was above average with my weight loss...YIPPEE! He was so proud of me and I think that made me feel great! Dr. Smith gave me a 75 pound pin and said I could pin myself once I hit it and he knew that would be soon. I was at 72.8 and he knew within the next few weeks I would be there.

My blood work was great at my doctor's office. I am not low in anything and I am doing WONDERFUL!

Dr. Smith did take a small amount of fluid out of my bad. I was TOO tight. I wasn't able to eat like I should. I was kind of eating those wonderful mushy and liquid foods becuase I could get them down. So, after 1 1/2 weeks he said I should have already been a little better. I swear, it is hard to believe that .10 cc could make that much of a difference. I could actually eat chicken the next day...YIPPPEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

I try to stay focused on my band even with everything going on with my Dad. He is going to fight his cancer and I am going to fight the scale and help him with his fight!

I am so excited to see how I do by the end of the year. WE CAN DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
