Surgeon Testimonial

Adam Smith, D.O., F.A.C.O.S
I met with Dr. Smith on 2/7/07. He was very nice and laid back. He went through everything with me and he felt I would be a great candidate for surgery. He let me feel the port under his skin to see what it is like. He was extremely professional. He is very big on aftercare and overall change of life habits. rnrnI can't say enough about Dr. Smith. Since he is a Lap-band patient himself, he truly understands what we are going through. Susee, his nurse, is a lap-band patient as well as is always there to assist the patients.rnrnDr. Smith is well respected in the medical community and I felt 100% confident with him providing my surgery. He is very educated on the lap-band surgery and has great bedside manner.rnrnI had some issue with getting fills in the beginning. Availability was hard! They have worked on the fill issues. They have another doctor now and it is easy to get in for a fill within a few days.rnrnI highly recommend Dr. Smith and I would do it again in a heart beat. They have commended me along the way and held me accountable. I could have never done it without Dr. Smith and Susee cheering me on!rn

Doubt
on September 9, 2008 10:45 am
Do you ever doubt you had the right surgery? I know that Lapband is the safest; however, I feel like a failure. Now, I know I am not a failure losing 100+ pounds; however, I have more to loose and I feel like I am failing myself and my band. I know it is going to take HARD WORK to get the rest of the weight off. I have got to WORK MY BUTT OFF!

Right now I am just feeling so sad about where I am. I want more weight of. It is not like I am 10 pounds from goal. I still have 80 pounds to loose to be at goal.

I NEED TO GET OUT OF MY PITY PARTY AND GET MY BUTT IN GEAR!

Update on me!
on September 1, 2008 2:16 pm
I haven't blogged for a while. I haven't lost weight in a few months...coming off the pill was so hard on me! I gained 15 pounds in one month and lost it in one month. My body went into wacko mode! I didn't overeat or anything just my hormones and I guess that effected water weight or something? Now, I am just staying at the same weight but people keep saying boy you have lost more weight (I HAVEN'T)!

I know that some of the stalled weight is my own fault. In the month of August it was over 100 almost every day with heat index of 110-114 and it is high humidity not dry heat. I just can't get my butt outside in that weather. It is just misreable!!!

I am excited it has started to cool down. I went hiking this weekend and went for a walk around the neighborhood so I am hoping to up my exercise in the winter months to kick start my body. I also think my body has now gotten used to the fewer calories. So, getting the exercise in full gear is a must to get the weight off.

We are still trying for a baby. This will be the start of the third month trying. So, I have had two cycles off the pill and hoping to get positive results this month. We say a prayer every day for a our little one!

I hope all of you are doing well!

Condiments on Meats
on September 1, 2008 1:03 pm
I have noticed that I have started putting moisture with meats to get it to go down. Ranch with chicken, ketchup with beef, etc. I really don't remember doing this when I first had surgery. I think that even if I did at first it was like a dribble (meaning just touching it in). I think that now I am placing it more into the condiment and it is making it go down easier so I am eating more.

I really need to STOP!!! I really was just thinking about what I eat and how I eat. It has been almost a year and a half. I think sometimes we have to look at the "new habits" we formed and make sure we don't do anything bad.

Thanks for reading,
Traci
