Well I am still trying to get over a cold..but feeling a lot better. No real updates as of right now. My consult with Dr. Coates is still a week and a half away..That is the next step! I am still trying to lose this extra weight. So far so good.....

Good Early Morning

Well it is 3am and I cannot sleep because my nostrils are completely shut so I'm in the living room trying to watch tv and letting my eyes water down my face. Dr. Morgan called last night and Pacificare faxed him approval for our meeting so that is taken care of! Now I just wait patiently for my consultation with Dr. Coates on the first....hopefully I can lose the weight by then.

Okay, so I talked to Dr. Morgan and he said he'd fax over an authorization to Sutter Gould in the hopes they will authorize it..God what a mess.  376!!!!!

The nightmare never ends...

I just have no idea what to do. I spoke to my PCP's nurse who basically told me that they have nothing to do with the authorization to see Dr. Morgan. They called Sutter Gould's authorization department who told them that Dr. Morgan should do the authorization...well now I can't get ahold of Dr. Morgan's office because he is in with a client. It is 2:52 PM and I called them at 9 am to get this started..This is such a headache and I just want it resolved. God...................................................

What a mess!

Ugh! Went to see Dr. Morgan. The meeting went very well. He said he absolutely thinks I'm a good candidate for the surgery and will have my approval letter typed up within the next few days and sent off to Dr. Coates' office..The problem you ask???? When I called my PCP last week so she could send off for approval for my Psych Evaluation, I was told that all I needed to do was call the Behavioral Health number on the back of my insurance card to get approval. So I did that. When I say Dr. Morgan today he told me that I needed to get approval from Sutter Gould and that my Dr.'s office should have done that for me, that it shouldn't have been made my responsibility .. .. so I called my PCP's office today and explained to the receptionist what had happened, annnnd she said she'd send off for the approval and someone would be calling me back. The problem is that now that I've already met with Dr. Morgan the approval needs to be dated for today..if not then I have to pay for it out of pocket. Ugh....tooo much drama! But what's great is that I am down to 381 today so I've lost 9 pounds in the last 3 days. Yay!

Good Morning....

Well I am off to meet with Dr. Morgan nice and early in the morning. I didn't get much sleep last night because my nose was completely plugged and then running off and on. Ugh. And it still is and now I have chapped lips. UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHH.  And of course now that I've sat on the couch my kitty is sitting on my lap and I don't want to make her get up...hahahaha, okay have a good day everyone. Oooh and I almost forgot. I weighed myself and I weigh 381.2..so down a few more pounds..YAYAYAYAYA..

A New Day..A Caffeine Headache...

So good afternoon to anyone who might be reading this between the hours of Noon and 4:59PM! So today I haven't had any caffeine and as of right now, my eyes are watering, my nose is running and I have a headache like nobody's business. Nobody's! But this morning I weighed myself and I weigh 386. So two pounds overnight isn't bad! Here's to hoping it keeps going down. I realize not eating or drastically cutting back what I eat is a stupid decision for long term results but I have to do whatever I can right now fully knowing it will only be for a little while. So for now,I will only drink water and eat air..or perhaps a few crackers...haha, okay who knows what I will eat but nothing for right now.

Bad Day

So today I went to my doctor's office and the Kaiser Permanente hospital to sign a release for my medical records to be given to Dr. Coates. On the way home I decided I'd by the scale that I said I'd buy in my last post. I weighed myself and I weigh 388 pounds. Somehow I managed to gain 36 in 1 month and didn't know this because my clothes fit me the same and I haven't noticed any difference in the way I look. At the seminar for Dr. Coates they said that they don't do surgery on anyone with a BMI of over 55. While this worried me since my BMI was exactly 55 I knew I'd keep myself within the right range..well now my BMI is 59..so even though I haven't had my consult with Dr. Coates I know that I have to lose 36 pounds in the 2 weeks before I meet him or he will tell me "Wow, I'm sorry Tiffany but until you lose 36 pounds I can't go any further with you"...That would be very disappointing..So apparently I'm going to have to starve myself these next two weeks and then hopefully even though I will still weigh too much Dr. Coates will say that he believes I can lose the rest of the weight during the 2 week liquid diet that he has put others on. It is just another hurdle to jump over and at the moment I don't have the energy. I cried for a while for the simple fact that I'm frustrated. But I have to give it a shot.

Medical Records specords..

So I decided today that I'd stay one step ahead of the game and go to Gould tomorrow and Kaiser to get my medical records. Dr. Coates' receptionist said he needs two years and I've only had Pacificare for a little over a year so unfortunately I have to get Kaiser's info too. Pacificare said they take about 1 week to get the records back and Kaiser said it takes 3-5 weeks. What the heck! Kaiser sucks =) And in the packet I received in the mail from Dr. Coates office that I'm supposed to bring to the consulation it has a page that you sign to authorize them to get your medical records..So this way I will hopefully have 1/2 my medical records when I go and save time! I bought a blender/smoothie maker/food processor at Gottschalks yesterday because they were having a Home Sale so I'm slowly getting ready for the big change. Tomorrow I'm going to buy a scale so I can start weighing myself and making sure I'm staying within the weight range I need to be. If my BMI goes above 55 Dr. Coates won't do the surgery. That is only a difference of 6 pounds so I need to lose some weight! So 1 more step down...49 to go! hahahahahhaa

Have Appointment With Dr. Morgan!

Whew hew. I called Pacificare and got authorization to meet with Dr. Morgan. Called his after hours number thinking he'd just call me back on Monday. Thirty minutes later I got a call from Dr. Morgan...I got lucky. So my appointment is Thursday, April 19th. I'm excited to get it over with since I'm nervous. Perhaps he will think I'm crazy...Hahahaha when he called me this morning he said in a very somber sad tone "Hi, Tiffany. This is Dr. Morgan.  Just what can I do for you?" When I told him I needed to meet with him regarding gastric bypass he said, "OHHH!!! GREAT!!!!!!! WONDERFUL!!!!" hahaha, so apparently he thought I'd be a crazy..but when he found out that that wasn't the case he became very happy hahahahahahaha. Anywho I'm excited and one more step down..fifty more to go! hahhahahaha

Now awaiting approval for Nutrition Class and Psych...

Thanks to my new OH friend Amy I found out I can apply for approval for the nutrition class and psychiatric meeting before meeting with Dr. Coates office. So hopefully I can get approval the next week or so and at least set up the appointments if not attend the appointments before going to my consult. Yay! thanks Amy for the great idea!

Got my Consultation Date!

Called Dr. Coates office today and got my consultation date. May 1st. Whew Hew. When I called yesterday they told me to wait until next Thursday and if I hadn't heard anything to call them..Buuuuut I didn't want to wait and called today and the receptionist went thru all of the packets and found mine and made me an appointment! So I'm excited. The end!

Went to the seminar!

So last night I attended the seminar. It was very informative and there were a lot of people there. Dr. Coirin gave the seminar. He isn't the surgeon I choose and had been hoping my surgeon would be giving the seminar..buuut no luck! I called today to find out when to expect a consultation date. The receptionist told me that they hadn't received everyone's packets from the seminar last night so I should hear back from them by Thursday next week..And of course I would be calling them every day until I have a consultation date!!!! One step down!!!!!

Finally my journey is beginning!

So, I saw my primary care physician on March 8 and she wrote up a request for me to see Dr. Coates and sent it off to Pacificare....after a very long three weeks I received my referral letter from Pacificare on March 27th to see Dr. Coates! The problem though is I noticed on the referral letter that it was approved on March 21st but not sent to me until the 27th. It bothers me waiting! My seminar with Dr. Coates is tonight at 6...I'm excited to start this journey and am hoping I will be able to get through the process with minimal pains...Hahahaha..yeah right there are always pains...My stomach has been in knots just sitting around waiting for this seminar to come..But it is finally here so I'm excited........Can you tell? Hahaha. Well anywho, I'm outta here for now, and can't wait for this day to be over and to get my consultation date!
