Surgeon TestimonialJamie Loggins MD.WOW! What can I say about Dr Loggins and his staff! They are awesome! I had a few issues during surgery and Dr Loggins skill got me through and has given me this new life! His staff is dedicated, responsive, and caring! I believe he surrounds himself with very intelligent and skilled co-workers! The pre-op and post-op program are very detailed and thorough. Expect to jump through hoops, but it WILL be worth it! Corinne, our Nut is awesome! She is hard on us, but for our own good! I wouldn't have lost anything pre-op if it hadn't been for her "looking over my shoulder"!! Dr Loggins was great at taking the time to answer ALL of my questions, more than once, if needed! I never felt rushed with him or his staff. Dr Loggins seems to really care about his patients, their outcomes, their concerns, and their health! His surgical skill is unmatched as far as I am concerned! If you have any questions about Dr Loggins or his staff, feel free to send me a message! I'd love to answer any questions you may have!!!

HI!!
My name is Ruth I live in Maine with my husband and my 3 awesome kids. I am also stepmom to 4 adult children. I work part-time (if you can call 30 hours/week part time) and stay busy chasing after the kids. Say hi!
Loving those WOW moments!!!!!! 6 hours ago
DH and I took the kids for a hike today at Bradbury Mountain State Park in Pownal. The weather was AWESOME!!!!!!! We hiked 5 miles! I was able to keep up and even had energy left at the end...I wanted to climb back up to the top of the mountain but no one wanted to come with me!!!!!! Dh couldn't believe how well I did! Last time we went there...about 2 years ago...I had to stop 4-5 times to make it up to the top of the mountain....TODAY....I DIDN'T stop! It was great!!!!!!! (I maybe didn't run up the hill like some young whippersnappers do, but at least I made it!!!!!!!) While we were there.......I got on the SWINGS!!!!! OMG! I haven't been on the swings since probably 2nd grade!!!!!! My butt fit in the seat without cutting off the circulation and I was going as high as the kids with no fear of breaking the swing!!!!!!!! It was SOOO much fun! I felt like a kid again for at least 2 minutes!!!!!!!! haha This stuff is so great! I love it!

11 weeks and counting!!!!!! 5 days ago
So, it's officially 11 weeks since this life-changing surgery for me! I have now lost 41 pounds since surgery! It seems kinda surreal! I just can't imagine that all this weight is gone and....IF I do the right things, it will STAY off! That is just incredible to me!
This past week has been weird for me. Thursday evening, I developed a left-sided pain in my abdomen, between my ribcage and iliac crest. It would get worse if I was standing or walking and better if I pressed in on it with my hands or if I sat down for a while. I ended up calling the surgeon's office Friday morning as it was still bothering me quite a bit. I spoke to Michael, the PA, and we both felt it was probably musculo-skeletal and probably not surgery related (I had lifted a bag of bird seed a couple of times Thursday. Even though I didn't have any pain when I did it, I might have pulled something?) He told me to call if I had any problems over the weekend. It's still a bit sore at times, but doing ok for the most part.
I've finally started losing again!!!!! WOOHOO!!!! I had gained about 4 pounds after getting sunburned a coupla weeks ago. I think I had swelling in my legs due to the sunburn. Either way, the weight is finally starting to drop again! I've increased my calories a bit too, which I think might be helping. I'm still eating under 600cals/day and it's making me quite full! I just need to stay away from the foods that got me to the point of needing this surgery in the first place!!!!!!! Not always easy, but doing my best. I made a "not so good" choice tonight and ended up paying for it!!!!!! I had some Blue Bunny, NAS, low fat ice cream....hhmmmm...I've had this half gallon in the freezer for over 4 months and not even half of it is gone! Tonight, it just looked REALLY good! So, I indulged! Well, 3 bathroom trips and a sore belly later, I am finally feeling better! I spent from 6pm to 10pm on the sofa sleeping off and on (between the bathroom trips) and NOW, I'm wide awake and can't sleep! It's gonna be a rough day at work tomorrow!
It's pretty amazing to me at how our bodies react to all these changes! I have been pretty lucky!!! I'll admit that for sure! I have YET to throw up on anything since surgery! That's a HUGE plus! I have tolerated everything so far, except for the ice cream tonight (which didn't make me puke, just felt kinda yucky for a while!) I had some beef kabobs today at Mulligans (actually....1 kabob! haha...about 3 ounces of meat a few veggies) It went down REALLY good! Of course, I brought a bunch home and probably won't be able to eat the rest as leftovers just seem too dry for me. I'm sure one of the kids will enjoy it tomorrow! We went to a Chinese buffet on Friday evening (DD had a softball tourney all weekend and we spent the weekend at mom and dad's house......DD's team came in 3rd! WOOHOO!!!) Chinese was good and they honored the Doc's little card and gave me a discounted price! My favorite food there was the crab legs (Alaskan King crab...Yummo!!) Made me look like I had eaten a bunch too with all the shells on the plate! haha I didn't try anything with sauces....I'm just too scared to dump on the sugar!!!!!!!! It was nice to be able to go out and eat with everyone though.
This weekend did teach me a bit too! Taught me that I need to be more tolerant. Guess I just feel weird being under everyone's magnifying glass! "Are you ok eating that? Are you sure you're full? Can I make you something to eat? If I make this, can you have some? " It just gets kinda old after a while. I had brought some things to eat...snacks, stuff for sandwiches, protein drinks, etc. I guess everyone just wants me to be successful, but .........oh, I don't know! We'll all figure it out in time!
Just so I can keep track.......a few stats.........
pre-op 11 weeks post-op
jeans: 24/26 12(Time to go shopping again!)
shirts: 2x/3x or 24/26 xl or 16/18
shorts: 2x/3x or 24 L or xl
It's great to be able to go shopping at Old Navy or the "normal" size clothes stores!
This journey is incredible!!!!!! I never imagined I'd get where I am today! I keep waiting to wake up and find this was all a dream and that I am back in those 24/26's!!!!!!!!! It's amazing to think that I'm....hopefully....still not done losing too! Imagine......I COULD be the "skinny" girl in my family!!!!!! That's NEVER happened before in my life!!!!!!!!!
Well, I can't post this without thanking some people again! To my OH family.......for all your support...You are ALL amazing and an inspiration to me!!!! Thank you!!!!!!!! To my family......your support is incredible and has helped to keep me going when I wanted to quit and try that piece of chocolate! Thank you!!!!! To my surgeon, Dr Loggins (and his staff) .....I wouldn't be where I am today without this wonderful tool I was given! I hope I can make you all proud! Thank you!!!!!! To my Lord and Savior...for allowing me this second chance at life, for giving me my loving family, a great support group and surgeon, for giving me ALL that I have in this life and for answering ALL my prayers.......in YOUR way! Thank YOU!!!!!!!!

10 weeks out!!!! on June 25, 2008 1:06 pm
I'm finally starting to feel better...I think! I'm still dizzy at times, but mostly when I change positions too quickly. I've been doing great getting in my protein...especially before I go anywhere in the morning! I've been getting all my fluids in too! I've started exercising again too, which is a GREAT thing! I'm walking daily or, if it's lightning/raining, I've been riding my stationary bike. Either way, getting some calories burned! WOOHOO!!!!!!!!
I HAD to go buy a little bit of new clothes...you know how it is! I just can't resist!!!!! I found a pair of pants at Steve and Barry's......size 12!!!!! OMG! They fit sooo good! I think they must run big! I don't care...it's fun to say...yup...size 12! haha....I also bought a pair of capris...those are 14's and are just right...If I lost a few more pounds, might be even better! I also bought a couple of pairs of shorts....size 12/14. Just perfect! It's amazing how this stuff fits! I NEVER in my life thought I'd be fitting into 12's or 14's!!!!!!!! Man...I love my RNY and Dr Loggins for giving me this tool!!!!!! WOW!!!!!!!
I went and tried on a few bathing suits today too as the one piece I have...well....lets just say....they could call me Auntie Bagass! The top is fine, but the bottom half is just too big!!!! So, I tried some tankini type suits with the little skirt bottom. The ones I tried on just did nothing for me! Too much skin hanging out under the arms and stuff...I think they were cut too low in the back. Great part is, I fit into a size 14 top and 12 for the bottom! So, I think that's the way I'll have to go, once I can find one I like!! If you can ever like a bathing suit! YIKES!
So, shopping is fun again! Feeling better! Eating well! What more can a girl ask for????????
