Moving along

The last couple of days have been better for me. I still don't have a lot of energy but I am able to stay awake and out of bed for longer periods of time.

Friday I drove my youngest to the auto shop so he could pick up his car. There were a couple of reasons to do this:
1. I am a nice mom!
2. He needed his car
3. I needed to test drive someplace, I haven't drove in a couple weeks.
This all seemed to be ok, it really tired me out, that was to be expected.

Saturday We ( my SO and I) went to cash wise to pick up a few food items. This was the most un-organized trip in my world. I had made a list but wasn't matching it up to the right isles. After shopping I was again a tired gal!

Each day I try to add something more to my daily events so I can get stronger. Monday I return to work again, this time I am hoping it is for good! I miss the students and my co-workers. I miss the structure of a day. I love my job and just want to be busy. Oh yes and making money is a good point too LOL

I hope this finds everyone else doing well
I am on the mend!

The Bright and the Grim

Today was the day for my Upper GI and then over to the Doc's office for the results.

That barium crap is just that! OMG- sip, swallow,GAG. The lil student tech would stand there looking at me and hold up the puke sock asking if I needed it, A couple of times it came close, bless her heart for being on the alert stand by.

They had me stand for pics, then lay on back, left side and right side. Then they sent me on my way. My SO who only has his learners permit to push a manual wheelchair, was pushing me thought the halls and almost taking off my toes or feet in door ways. But, he is my ROCK and always there for me! Ok, getting back to the events...

I made it over to my doctors office and got my paper work to go up and see him on the middle of the form it said "This patient is scheduled for:SURGERY"
I am like oh hell here we go again. Yes, more added stress.

When I was called back to the room and the nurse was going over stuff before young doc came in I pointed out I knew what the results were, she looked at me funny and I pointed out to her THAT passage on the paper! She was like oh silly that's what department your in- yeah ok try and pacify me LOL

Doc comes in to tell me NOTHING is wrong that they can find. Tests were all good. So, why the HE77 and I in so much pain? It seems according to him I am having incision trauma still. They had to re use ports for the 2nd surgery from the first one just 15 days before, He says it will all clear up and see you in a month unless it gets worse. I am not a firm believer in the results but we will see. I am off work again til the 29th and will then try and go back. Until then I am to rest, lil activity, and take it very easy. He says I might of over did it last time and that's why the set back.

Here is to me moving so slow and not doing much :(
Thanks everyone for the concern and support!

Howdy!

For those that have not had their surgery yet and are reading this- I am truly sorry I have so many negative things to say. Take comfort that you are not me and that your up coming event will more then likely be perfect.

He I sit 19 days post-op from my 2nd surgery. I am having more problems and just trying to hang on til this coming Tuesday for the tests to be done. If that is not possible I will be down to the ER again!

I returned to work on the 15th of this month. Made it for a whole 2 days. The second day towards the end I was feeling so sick, I left the classroom I was in and found me an empty classroom where I could shut the door and hold on to a trash can and just sit and puke.

This all worked out according to plan until about 45 minutes later when my co-worker hunted me down and said GO HOME! To which I did.

Did I know I was not returning the next day,no. Matter of fact I didn't return the rest of the week. Next week is not looking any better.

I had developed an allergic reaction to the calcium citrate I was on, now off that. After that I became constipated and needed stool softeners. Then my stomach started in again with those pains! and I have been throwing up off and on.

Was in touch with my doctor daily last week. He has scheduled an upper GI x-ray to see what is going on. I am betting I have to drink more of that nasty crap again and they best provide a bag to throw up in.

I am guessing whatever they find will not be good and I will again be back in surgery.

I have not enjoyed one ounce of this trip/journey. I have lost weight but I don't care. I did all this to better my health. I don't see that happening yet. I have only been in the hospital 6 times in my life and 4 of those times was to bring one of my darling children into the world. In the past 38 days I have had 2 surgeries and maybe one more on the way. My body is taking longer to heal each time. I just got done with the healing (scabs) of the 1st surgery and the 2nd one is still all scabbed over.

I can not take much more of all this, I just want to have my normal life and be able to do things. I am not asking for much nor am I wanting to run in a beauty pageant. I just want some form of normal. Yes I am pissed, not at the world but at my luck! My emotions are all over the place.

Until next up-date I hope everyone is doing good!

20 days post-op and beyond

Hello!

This has been a very trying new life. A life you can not fight back at with much strength.

Aug 31st I started to feel just bad as bad could be. It hit hard and fast. I started in with stomach cramps and throwing up bile almost non stop. Each time I tried to take something for it, I would again get sick to my stomach.

My SO drove me to the ER. Being it was a Holiday weekend we had to wait for the next available ER bed. Every time an ambulance or helicopter arrived it pushed your name back one on the list. I lost count of how many times this happened.

I was so sick all I wanted to do was curl up into a ball on the floor, but I would of never been able to get back up off the floor. After 4 hours in the waiting room and people watching me throw up- funny how at that point in time you don't even care about your own dignity. I was called back into a room,

They went over all the normal questions and quickly got my pain under control, nice how some meds work. They ordered a CT scan of my stomach and this meant I had to drink this stuff they called contrast, they flavored it with sugar free lemon-aide.YUCK!! For each sip I took I think 2 or 3 sips came back up. This went on for 2 hrs before they finally said ok, we will try by what we have.

The test went ok and when the results were in I won a stay at the Hotel Medical center! I had been telling them to call my doctor and all they would say was "it is his weekend off". I was in no shape or form to argue with them.

I sat in a hospital room for 2 whole days and on the 3rd morning in walks my doctor to tell me, I need surgery. I had an obstruction in the intestine according to the CT scan. He had 6 other surgeries ahead of me but I would be taken care of.

At 4pm I was taken off to surgery and back in my room by 7 pm. I was pretty much out of it the rest of the eve. Meds were still my friend!

He says that once they opened me up and found the site. My intestine had moved back kinked and below that area it had twisted and was sucking itself inside its self. Took out the kinks and twist and everything fell into place. He stitched the intestine in place so it wont happen again.

I spent another 2 days in the Hospital before going home( 5 days total).
Once home it was to move around, sip and eat. I didn't have to be back to work for a few days (10).

I returned to work on Sept 15,2008.
