Surgeon Testimonial

Adrian G. Dan, MD
My experience with the Summa Bariatric Center and Dr. Dan was wonderful. Dr. Dan took his time with me and answered all my questions. The surgery went without a hitch. The only problem I had was I almost got dehydrated. That was my fault for not drinking enough. I did call the answering service with issues and both Dr. Dan and Dr. Z were very caring and made sure that I was comfortable with the information they gave me. I am so glad that I had the surgery.

UPDATE; I AM NOW AT189. I started my journey 100 pounds ago at 305. I am now at 205 and feeling great. I am married to a wonderful supportive man. I have two children ages 18 and 9. I also have two of the cutest doggies ever. Daisy a Bischon Frise/Poodle and Joey a Yorkey Poo. I feel great. I have more energy then I ever had before. I am a little disappointed because I have gained and lost, gain and lost. I am now under 200. I am not holding my breath, because I can gain 5 pounds like nothing. Hopefully this is not temporally.

Feeling good today. Looking for some good no sugar no calories or low calories snacks for when i have the urge to cheat and don't want to. Some one told me to buy sugar free Doves dark chocolate and have a piece when I get the urge. I just might have to do that. I never want to gain any weight. I hope all is well with everyone. If you are from Akron or the surrounding areas I would suggest you come to the Summa Support meeting. You do not have to have your surgery at Summa to come to the support. We have people from all over. It is a good time with great support. Wednesday January 27 at 6:30pm at 55 Arch St. PODS.
Directions to Weight Loss Seminars & Support Group Meetings

Our free public seminars are held in the basement of the Professional Center South (PCS), at 55 Arch Street, which is one of 3 outpatient medical buildings located on Summa’s Akron City Campus.  The PCS is between Adams and Arch Street, and is attached to the South Parking Deck.  The entrance to the South Parking Deck is on Upson Street, which runs between Adams and Arch Street.  We recommend that you park in the SOUTH PARKING DECK on the 2nd floor.  Come into the medical building from the parking deck.  Once you are inside the medical building, take the elevators to the basement.  This area is called “The PODS”.  Turn left off of the elevators and go around the corner.  You will see the seminar registration desk, which is staffed 30 minutes before the start of the seminar.

If you happened to park in the North Parking Deck (connected to Professional Center North (PCN) building at 75 Arch Street), you can still get to the seminar – you will just have to walk a little farther.  Park on the 2nd floor and come into the PCN building.  Turn left at the information desk and take the short bridge over to the PCS building.  Once in PCS, take those elevators down to the basement.  This area is called “The PODS”.  Turn left off of the elevators and go around the corner.  You will see the seminar registration desk, which is staffed 30 minutes before the start of the seminar.

If you happened to park in the surface lot behind the biggest, newest medical building (also called the Centers of Excellence or the Heart and Lung Center), at 95 Arch St., we recommend that you move your car to either the North or South Parking Deck.  You will not be able to park free of charge in that lot, and it is a long walk to the seminar.  However, if you are already in the building and do not want to move your car, you will take the elevators to the 2nd floor. When you get off the elevators, turn right into the only hallway on that floor.  You will pass our office on your left, which is suite 240.  Keep going to the end of the hall, and then turn left.  Turn right at the hallway.  This will take you to the long glass bridge.  Cross the bridge – you will be in the PCN building.  Go through the PCN building, past the information desk by those elevators, and turn to the left at the elevators.  There is an information board and an ATM machine on your left.  Follow this short bridge to the PCS building, which is where the seminars are held.  Go through the PCS building, past the lab, to the elevators.  Take those elevators down to the basement.  This area is called “The PODS”.  Turn left off of the elevators and go around the corner.  You will see the seminar registration desk, which is staffed 30 minutes before the start of the seminar.

GOOD LUCK – WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING YOU AT THE SEMINAR

I am on a roll again with losing weight. I think I have it figured out. I lose a bunch at once then my body has to catch up. I slow down then the process happens all over again. I am so happy that I met one of my goals. I am under 200. I have not seen this since I got married in 1993. I am now out of the plus size section. It was kind of a bitter sweet moment. I am so proud of myself. Next I have to get all this extra skin taken care of. Doing some toning exercises but I really need to work hard on that. Beginning of 2010 was rough but I am having a positive attitude and looking towards a good year. Life is what we make of it and I want to make mine into good healthy year.

Weight loss
on January 11, 2010 9:53 am
I watched the saddest story yesterday on the Health channel. It was the one ton teen. There were three young teens in the story. Two just did not care that they had the Bariatric surgery and did what they wanted to. The other young gentleman died before he could get any type of help. He got pneumonia and had fluid on his heart and lungs. No one understands what an obese person goes through. My husband said that is crazy for some one to let themselves get like this. Not understanding that it is an illness his own wife struggled and still struggles with. I have and will always have an obsession with food. If I could now I would still be pigging out. I would still be eating what I want. Thank God for the surgery that changed all that. Even though they are close to us our families still do not understand our illness or obsession. That is why we have to be there for each other and support each other because we are the only ones that understand. It is like the 12 step program for AA. You have to take it one step at a time. Oh yeah I forgot to mention that I am now under 200 pounds and I am not going crazy yet. I could gain 5 pounds back with all my water that I seem to hold in.

Dr. Dan
on December 30, 2009 10:30 am
I saw Dr. Dan today and he is very please with my results. Said the stalls might be due to my diabetes and hypothyroid. Now that they know about my thyroid being out of wack things should be picking up soon. I lost 60% of my  excess weight. I only have 55 pounds to go for goal and I have a whole 6 to 9 months to do it. I did not get my pictures yet so when I do, I will post them. I am healthy and happy. I need to just keep pushing those fluids.

My Story

I can't remember when I wasn't fat. I have been unhealthy for most of my life. I am excited and scared. All I want to be is healthy. I have high blood pressure, diabetes, and the starting of kidney disease. Most will go away when I have my surgery and lose weight. I will still be a diabetic, but will be bettered controlled. I am a mother of two and I want to be here for my children.
I hate when you go to a restraunt and people stare at you. I want to go the store and not have to go to the plus size part. I want to ride roller coasters again. Not having to be embrassed that you can't fit in the ride. I just want to be happy and healthy.
