Surgeon Testimonial

T. Paul Singh, M.D.
Dr. Singh is an excellent surgeon and a very caring person. He was always ready to answer any questions I had. After surgery, while still in the hospital, he came to see me every day to be sure everything was alright. If I had any concerns he was right on them. He has a schedule of aftercare visits to be followed when I go home.Very family oriented...even brought his 11 year old son to the hospital and introduced us. Very polite little boy...says he doesn't want to be a surgeon like dad but would rather be a baseball player. I would recommend Dr. Singh 100%.

Well, I recieved the lower CPap settings today so tonight I will try to sleep with this again. I have to do this every nightfrom now on because I have another appointment with Dr. Singh on the 20th of July and I don't want to disappoint him or have him disappoint me and tell the the surgery is off. That would be the pits.
I have been slacking off on dieting and exercising so I have to get back on the ball with that tomorrow. It's been raining so much I haven't been walking and that has led me to not diet.......I must stop this way of thinking......I was doing so good.
I recieved an Email from a very good friend on this site (Meta). I haven't heard from her or her me in so long. I was so happy and now I better go answer her back. I hope we never lose touch again. I want to take a trip to Colorado to visit her eventually.
Enough for now but will write more when I hear something more.
Just want to thank everyone for such wonderful information.

First of all......I HAVE A DATE-----AUGUST 21, 2006. This is 3 days before my birthday......wow, what a great birthday present.
I was waiting for the doctor's office to call me but they didn't so I finally called them and they had a cancellation for the next day so I took it. Dr. Singh was very nice and very much concerned with problems I might have during surgery and after. I could have had a surgery date for 4 weeks but he advised against it because I haven't been on the C-Pap machine because of the headaches. He said if this was regular surgery he would go ahead and do the surgery but since it can wait he wants me to have the machine adjusted and then be on it for awhile. I can understand his point about that. Also, he wants me to try to go down further on the pain medication and to try and lose more weight. I will try to do both of those too but I am getting impatient. I know everyone knows how Ifeel...I want to do whats best but I am also anxious for the surgery.

I had my last nutritional meeting on the 14th. I was so afraid that I had gained some of the 10% back but I actually lost 2 pounds. So, now all my records are going to be sent to the surgeon (Dr. Singh). I was told if I don't hear from his office by Tuesday then I should give them a call. When I meet with him I should get a surgery date. I am so anxious for this but afraid at the same time.
I want to add at this time some of the things I took forward to:
1. Get a nursing degree.
2. Less pain in back and joints.
3. Respect from others.
4. Wear clothes in a normal size.
5. Look good in pictures.
6. Be able to take a relaxing bath again.
7. Feel good about myself.
8. Prolong my life.
9. Be able to keep up with my grown children and grandchildren.
10.Have a relationship.
11.Not settle for less in a relationship.
My 15 yr old son came home from being away at school for the last to years. I am so glad to have him back but I forgot what it was like not to have a perfect house with everything in its place. I can't keep up with it. Maybe after surgery I will be able to (haha). OMG......it will be a disaster until then. We are going to sit down today and make a list of rules and chores for him to follow......its like starting all over again.
I will post more once I hear from the sureons office. God Bless to everyone reading this. Would love to hear from you and find an angel in my area.

My Story

Where do I start? I have been heavy my whole life and with each diet I try I get heavier and heavier until now I have reached where I am today.
I started researching WLS about a year ago. I found a doctor and I had all the preliminaries completed in about two weeks....I was very excited to get the ball rolling. Then the nurse called to inform me that the doctor would not do the surgery until I was off the pain medication I have been on for a long time for three months....then he would do the surgery.
Well, OK, I tried this but I was in such pain with my bad back that I couldn't hardly move without a wheelchair. I broke my back in an auto/train accident when I was a kid and I thought this doctor would understand that I need to lose the weight to be able to get off the pain meds and be able to function. Needless to say, my PCP had me go right back on the pain meds. Now I have the pain somewhat under control again and I have found another WLS in Albany Medical Center. Again I have done all the preliminaries. I have one more visit with the nutritionist at St. Peters Nutritional Center then I am set up with an appointment to see the WLS. I pray every day that I will be on the loosing side before long. I actually have even decreased the pain meds but I am unable to go off completely at this time.
I am 51 years old and I weigh 280 lbs. I have been losing weight for the surgery (needed to lose 10% of body fat). I started at 310 lbs so now I just have to work at keeping that off until surgery....keeping it off has always been the hard part for me.
Will post more later. Take care and you are all in my prayers.
