Surgeon Testimonial

Clifford Deveney, M.D.
Dr. Deveney has a GREAT personality. He's very focused and serious but able to chuckle easily. He's a busy, busy man, but always made me feel like the times when I saw him as a patient he was focused on me an my health. I wish there were more emphasis on aftercare or follow-ups. I felt like I had all the resources pre-op I could want but that he was unaccessible post-op. His Nurse practitioners Susan and Vicki are easy to call and usually messages are followed up on if not the same day within a few days. I don't know if my expectations were unrealistic but I feel or felt that there was SO much emphasis and involvement pre-op and feel that post-op I am mostly on my own. I have follow up appointments about every 3-4months and those are great, but they usually are 5-10minutes and usually with the NP. It would be nice to have follow-up with the nutritionist and with a team physchiatrist as routine. It's really hard after this surgery and it would be nice to just know that your team was making sure you were ok and on the right track for this lifetime change. The aftercare program definitely needs some help in my honest opionion. Overall I would rate Dr. Deveney as an excellent, competent surgeon, and his staff highgly, but the aftercare program needs more involvement and more cohesiveness.

WOW...this is one crazy ride...Can I just stay...
on March 17, 2008 11:57 pm
It's been awhile since I blogged. Sorry about that.

I just tracked my weight tonight. I am down to 247! Hot Tamales!! From 380....this journey of WLS is still blowing my mind. Things have slowed down a little bit but am still losing weekly/monthly. It's not easy, but it's getting sooooo much easier than it was.

I am just loving life. Loving the new me, the new look, the smaller sizes and feeling so much better. Still working on some issues but don't we all.

So here's my big eye opener today...
My BMI was 53 when Is tarted this journey less than 6months ago and today it is 34.6...That is almost 20 BMI points~! Just blows my mind. AND, in about 30-40 more pounds I will be "slightly overweight" and no longer in the "obese" category...what the...lol

I don't know what that will feel like, but I imagine pretty damn good!
Hope everybody is doing well.

Hugs and protein kisses, lol ~ T

273!!! I have lost 100lbs!!! (well a little more than a hundred)

I honestly never really truly thought this would happen. It seems surreal. I love this new life!!

I've got another hundred to go just about to get to goal. I know it will be alot harder than this first 100. Wow it just seems weird typing it out, sorry. So weird, but I AM LOVING IT!!!

Been awhile...
on December 26, 2007 4:13 pm

since I posted a blog.  The holidays were just so busy!! lol
I can't believe Christmas is here and gone already. BUT, we had a magical one with family and friends, and that's what counts.

The weight is still creeping off...

So I couldn't be happier. I met my first BIG goal of "being under 300lbs by Christmas (07)" back in the beginning of December. My next BIG goal to track is "to have lost 100lbs by my birthday in February (6th)" and I am on way to making that one too I hope. I started at my highest weight, about 375-380ish (I say that because it depended on what scale I was on, but I tend to believe the 380...) and today hover around 290-292. So If I could get to 275 by Februrary 6th, that would meet my next big goal. So...about another 12-17lbs depending on which I go with, lol. BUT, I'm shooting for 18lbs by then, so we'll see, I'll keep working this tool hard! ;o)

Hope you all had a wonderful Holiday Season, and for those who celebrate it a very Merry Christmas and Hasppy 2008!

~Hugs~  Tomi
