Surgeon Testimonial

J.K. Champion M.D. F.A.C.S
08/31/01 Today was my consultation with Dr. J.K. Champion (surgery is in 4 days). I have been really nervous and apprehensive about meeting Dr. Champion, now I don't know why I worried over it so much. Dr. Champion was the best!!! The perfect combination of professionalism and personalism! He was friendly, reassuring, and direct. Dr. Champion answered all my questions, made sure I was comfortable and knowledgable about the procedure, explained everything from beginning to end, and even discussed risks. He then said that I was a perfect candidate for the RNY and he was confident that I would have excellent success from the surgery! His staff was also very helpful and nice. I know for certain that I am in the best of hands!!!!

I'm finally starting to see some of the extra pounds come off.  I lost 3 pounds last week, 22 more to go!!!  Sometimes it's the small steps the matter the most!!  I've been so depressed about having allowed myself to gain the weight to begin with that it was an additional struggle to find the willpower to make the healthy food choises necessary to drop the weight.  I'm certain that being back at OH, where I belong, has really helped to give me the confidence and support I needed to turn this around around get back on track.

On a subjected unrelated to WLS, my son started the 8th grade and my daughter started pre-k yesterday!  I cannot believe both of my children are now in school!  Time goes by so quickly!  I'm already dreading Josh going to high school and Emily going to kindergarten - next year!!

Even though I love summer, I find myself looking forward to Fall and cooler weather.

It seems like every day I get on the scale and the darn thing has not moved.  I know that part of the problem is that I'm "getting on the scale every day".  My goal for this coming week is to concentrate on eating healthy foods and only getting on the scale once a week!  Oddly, while that seems like the easiest goal ever, it will be one of the hardest for me.  I'm pretty addicted to getting on the scale every day.  But with the 25 pound weight gain, it has just made each day more agonizing and more stressful.  It makes me feel like a failure to step on that scale and not see the weight coming off.  I know that it's just lowering my self esteem all the more and making the glass appear that much more empty.  So I will do myself the biggest favor I can think of and stop beating myself up and be proud of where I've been, where I am now, and where I'm going.  I'll take each day and find something positive to focus on instead of the negative.  I'm hoping that if I can get myself mentally inspired I will continue to work on my goal of losing this extra weight and get back on track and stay on track once and for all.

Getting Back on Track

I had my RNY on 9/4/01.  It's amazing it's been almost 8 years!!!  I've been struggling with a 25 pound weight regain off and on since my daughter was born 4 years ago.  It's very frustrating to continue to struggle!!  WLS is a live-long journey, not just a pre and post op issue.  I need to get back to the basics, which is the main reason I'm back here at OH.  This is where I began researching WLS, found support through the research, approval, surgery, and post op periods.  I hope to be able to loose this extra weight and continue with my healthy post op lifestyle.  Thanks to everyone at OH for all the support you show and to all the members!
