Hi all!!  My name is Toyia, and I am excited about my future.  I believe the Lord opened the door to my surgery, so I plan to be a good steward.

I had my RNY on June 1, 2009.  I started my process in the fall of '07, but I didn't get approved until I took a sleep study.  Honestly, I can't believe I did it!!  I had never had surgery, no co-morbidities, no sleep apnea (Thank God), so when I was approved, I was surprised.

Now that I've started this journey, I plan to have a healthy, fun-filled ride!!!!!!!

My Story

Now, how do I begin???  My weight issues started after I graduated from high school.  I must have gain about 30-40 pounds my freshman year in college.  Consequently, the diet pills started.  Soon after, the crash diets started.  However, it's hard to maintain in the dormitory.  Also, seeing so many women different shapes and sizes didn't help.  I was like, where did they come from, and how did they learn about being in shape at that age.  Like they say, "college is a different world".  I think that is when I began to become unhappy with my physical appearance because I was always the pick of the litter in high school, but not so here.

Alot of things begin to change for me at that time:  socially, physically, academically,  and emotionally.  I found it all hard to cope with.  I was no longer at the top.  No longer popular.  It was difficult.  Honestly, I never really adjusted.  I never really found my place.  I hate that until this day, "but my latter will be greater than my past!!!"

Now, let me focus on my weight loss.  I tried several diets:  Atkins, Weight Watchers, The Weigh Down Diet, Subway, L A Weight Loss, and others I can't recall at this time.  As you can see, all to no avail.  I hope this time will be different.  I do, I do!!!

Just a little about me..I am an educator.  I have a BS in Biology and a MS in Training and Development.  I one day hope to pursue a PhD.  Currently, I am looking for assistant principal positions.  So, if you have any leads, let me know!  I am ready to broaden my horizons.    I am a saved, single female who enjoys family and friends.  Right now, my current focus is me!  I desire to be a better person inside out!!!!
