Finally pictures!!
on November 3, 2007 9:43 pm
It's about time I posted some new pictures.  These were taken on Saturday, Nov. 3rd, 2007.  I have lost a total of 82 pounds...Yah!!   I'm currently at 145, only 18 lbs to my goal.  We'll see how that goes.  I'm having other health issues and had some MRI's and Ct Scans done last week, so we'll see what comes of that.

14 weeks post op
on October 10, 2007 9:14 pm
So I am 14 weeks post op and I have lost a total of 70 pounds.  I now weigh 157 and I have 30 pounds to go.  I am now wearing a size 14 in pants and they are starting to feel a little loose.  I'm wearing a medium in shirts, which totally blows me away.  I have never been able to wear a medium.   I'm feeling pretty good.  My energy level isn't all that high yet.  I went back to work after being off for 3 months.  I went from full time to part time until I get back in the swing of things.  I know it's been 3 months and 2 weeks since my surgery but I'm just starting to feel good.  I have been having problems eating.  I'm never hungry and when I do eat nothing tastes good and I have constant nausea.  It's getting better.  Sleeping has been terrible.  My doctor prescribed ambien, but it didn't work.  So my surgeon gave me rozerm and it didn't work.  But then I found out that you have to take rozerm for 8 days before it starts working. The doctor didn't tell me that.  My labs came back ok, the only thing they found was that my potassium was low.  So I went to see my PCP to have more labs taken on Monday, then Tuesday I had an appointment to review them with the dr. and she said they didn't re take the potassium.  So I had to have labs done again that day and she said she would call me the same day to tell me the results.  Well, the doctots office didn't call until this morning to let me know that my potassium was still low and they want to do some more blood work, so now I have to go in to have more blood taken.  I don't mind so much about the blood thing it's just I live about 40 miles away and 3 times in a week is a little much.  So I will go in tomorrow to have it done and hopefully they will figure out what's going on.

8 weeks out today!!
on August 28, 2007 6:11 pm
Well this morning I weighed myself and I was 178,  yah a total of 49 pounds lost.  But I thought that would be great if it was 50 pounds in just 8 weeks.  So I went on with my day, errands, job interviews, nails, etc.  And tonight I weighed myself and there it was 177,   50 lbs lost.   I was excited.  No I don't weigh myself everyday, I  thought I would do it twice today just to see.  I'm still not getting in all my protein.  But I'm trying.  I am really trying to drinks some shakes, but it's hard.  It was so easy pre op.  I thought this whole eating thing would be easier than it is.  But boy I was wrong.  It's the hardest thing.  I hardly eat anything.  I'm never hungry and when I am I can only stand a few bites (small bites) and that's it.  I don't see my doctor until October.  I hope I get some labs done so I can see where everything is at.  I'm going to try to post a newer picture this evening.  We'll see how that goes.

It's about time I added pictures
on August 7, 2007 8:14 pm
So, I finally I added pictures.  My before picture is so terrible, I can't believe I posted it.  Anyway, today I'm 6 weeks out and have lost 39 pounds.  I'm feeling good, but not eating like I should be.  I'm going back to work one week from today and I'm not very excited about it.  I'm trying to find a new job, but it has been hard because there aren't that many out there.  I know if I stay where I'm at I will be very stressed and more of an angry person.  The people I work with have no respect for others, they're selfish and only look out for themselves.  I can't stand being in that environment.  It's going to bring me down and I'll become more of a negative person.  Anyway, enough about that.  I'm thinking about going to work out (for the first time) on Thursday and see how that goes.  Well, I guess that's it for now.

First day home!
on July 7, 2007 9:42 am
I got home on Friday, July 6th at about 1pm.  Only 3 days in.  I hated the hospital stay.  Keep waking me up all day and all night.  I know it's their job.  But they would get upset because "you need to get up and walk" well before I could get up I would doze off again.  It seemed like I did walk a lot throughout the nightime though.  Anyway, I had the weirdest dreams while I was in the hospital.  Some violent and some just crazy.  I know it was from the meds.  It's nice being home now.  The time is going by sooo slow.

My Story

Hi!  My name is Christina, I'm 36 and I live in Sahuarita/Green Valley Arizona.  I am married and have three kids.  My daughter, Kanlaya is 17 years old, my  son Chris is 12 and my other son Cody is 10.  I have been overweight all my life and I'm just so tired of it.  I am at my highest weight right now...230 and I'm only 5'2.  I have thought about having weight loss surgery, but it was only a thought.  I never actually thought that I would qualify or even that my insurance would cover it.   So I was really surprised when a friend of mine told me that she was having the RNY surgery and she had the same insurance company.  So I made an appointment(4/23/07) and met with the WLS nurse and started researching everything.  Then I had an appointment (5/03/07) with the surgeon, he was very nice, easy to talk to and I felt very comfortable.  Right away he recommended the lap band, but I had already researched boh surgeries and I had my mind set on the RNY.  After that appointment, I had to  get my medical records sent to the surgeons office.  That took 3 weeks and finally on May 21st my WLS doctors office sent it to the insurance company.  And now I'm just waiting.  I know 5 people who have had the WLS and they all look and say they feel great.
