 My name is Tryna. I live in Phoenix, Arizona and was 39 years old at the time of surgery. I am married to a wonderful man. We have two children together and I had a son from a previous relationship that passed away on April 16, 2010 at the age of 16. He is greatly missed. March 9, 2011 - Measurements

Today I finally took my measurements. I wish I wouldn't have forgotten to take them at the beginning. Oh well....

March 5, 2011 - 1 day post-op

I still feel great. I have a little more soreness but nothing like I expected, especially since I ended up having an extra operation done. I explain the soreness that I am feeling as being equivalent to how your ribs are sore the day after you were sneeking or coughing a lot. I'm ready to go home but I have to stay one more night. Oh well, I'll take advantage of the resting time I get.

March 4, 2011 - Surgery Day

I had the surgery today. Another lady was having it the same day as me. He took her in first because she had a hiatal hernia and the surgery would take longer. Well, as it turned out, she didn't have one but I did. I had no idea I had one. Dr. Alvarez fixed it for me at no charge. I can't see doctors in the US doing that for free.

I feel so much better than I thought I would. My husband who had it done in 2009 had a lot more pain from the gas.

My Story

I am tired of being overweight. I'm tired of the roller coaster of losing then gaining it back. I hate being so self conscious. I want people to look at me because I look good not bad. So now is the time. My husband had the VSG with Dr. Alvarez in August of 2009. He had lost 195 lbs and looks amazing. If he can do it, I can do it. So yesterday March 4, 2011 I did it. I want to get this weight off so I can concentrate on other things like spending lots of time with my daughters. Now that my husband and I have both had the surgery, we will be eating smaller portions. This will also benefit our daughters because they are young and will now grow up watching us eating smaller amounts rather than what we used to eat. I've very excited to start my journey and have a healthier happier life. Oh, and I'm excited to be able to get rid of all my clothes and new ones....cute ones.
