My story is probably very similar to a lot of other members' stories. I've been battling my weight since my early 20's, and now that I am in my mid-30's, I feel like it is time to take a big step to lose the extra pounds. I'm tired of being exhausted by doing everyday activities. I'm tired of not being able to do some of the things that I used to love. I'm tired of the person in the mirror not reflecting my true self. I'm tired of being tired.
I've tried all the diets out there, and have had periods of successful weight loss. The weight always returns, and it is so kind to bring extra friends along when it does. So I am almost 300 pounds now, and that is just not acceptable to me. I need help in making weight loss a permanent thing, so I have chosen to have VSG surgery. I'm fairly far along in the process, having completed all of the preoperative testing, nutrition and psych counseling, and am now waiting for BCBS to approve my procedure. Surgery should be sometime in the next couple months.
I've been "lurking" on this site for months, researching the various procedures and learning how to best prepare myself for sucess after surgery. This seems to be a very kind and helpful community, and I am excited to be a part of it now!
