Three months out!
on May 12, 2009 3:28 pm
Hello all,
I am three months out and have lost 50 pounds since surgery! I am having some problems with my blood sugar. Ironically enough it stays toooo low and it bottoms out. I am meeting with my NUT next week. Can you believe they say I am not eating enough??? Now that's one I never heard before. Anyway, we'll see how that goes. In the meantime, I will try to eat more frequently...Eating more makes it difficult to get the liquids in, but I am encouraged that I can do it!
See ya soon!

One Month Post-op

Hello OH family!
I am happy to announce that I am one month post -op and down 33 pounds since surgery! Can you say EXCITED!
I must admit that I struggle with the vitamins. I have to find some that I can tolerate. I am still looking. I plan to go to the Vitamin Shoppe today and see what they have. I really need something liquid instead of chewable. That works better for me. Well all is well and I will probably post some pictures soon even though I only see a difference in my clothes. I was getting dressed for school today and my suit pants were way too big! PRAISE GOD!
I will update later...PEACE

Bitter sweet!
on February 10, 2009 11:32 am
Hello all,
I am 8 days post op and all is well. I had pain for the first time yesterday. I went to the gym yesterday and I think I bent down a little too much. But I woke up feeling much better this morning.
Sadly, my Grandmother passed away on Sunday night. She was a precious, loving and sweet angel. She endured a lot during her life and she was a fighter. She lived to be 91 years old and was still sharp as a tack. She will be dearly missed by my entire family. I have to head to South Carolina for her funeral this weekend. So I have to mentally and physically prepare myself to be sure I stay on track with my protein and all of that. I am sure there will be  nothing there but food I can't have and honestly don't want. So I better grocery shop and take things with me that I can have. I will be on the pureed stage of my eating. YEAH!!!! I am looking forward to a little something different.
Take care everyone and I will update soon.
I am not sure if I have lost or how much weight I have lost. I don't plan to weigh until my post-op next Tuesday. Even though I plan to get on my WII Fit and I know it will tell me.

4TH DAY AT HOME....
on February 7, 2009 2:38 pm

OK Fam, I have been home for four days now and I am doing pretty good. The only struggle that I am having is making myself drink the protein when I feel so full already. my surgeon has me on a strict sip wait 15 minutes and then sip again regiment that does help. I have to do this until Wednesday. So I will be happy when Thursday gets here so I can switch it up a little. My incisions itch all the time, but that is a sign of healing so I am ok with that.
My mom and dad are here and they have truly helped me to stay focus and stick to my protein. My husband keeps saying think about the BIG picture and he is so right. I am doing ok mentally, I am just ready for my surgi tape to fall off and my incisions to be healed so I can hit the gym hard like I want to. I have been walking and that does help. Well, I am off to start my last protein shake of the day WoooHoooo!
Well until next time take care all!

I am home....

February 4th, 2009
Hello all,
Well God is AWESOME! I am home today and feeling pretty good. I was discharged around 10am and I am at home feeling fine. This gas is a trip. It moves like a hurricane throughout my stomach. I am able to move around independently and I am resting well. My throat is still very sore from the tube, but all and all I am doing great! Praise God. I start my protein shake regiment tomorrow and will be on clear liquids the rest of the day today. I am doing ok on that. I actually have to make myself drink so that I don't get dehydrated. Well, I am off to get some rest and I will update more later.
Thanks for all the support and prayers.

My Story

I began this journey about 7 months ago. Like almost everyone here, I have struggled with my weight for my entire life. Luckily in my earlier years, I was too busy being involved in things to notice that I was truly overweight. I played basketball, was a cheerleader and I stepped in college and coach step teams now. I am actually very active. However, I have never been able to get the weight off and keep it off. I always managed to gain it back after losing. Now that I am 34 and ready to start my family, I am faced with type II diabetes and it is time for a drastic change. And for me this is drastic. It took some convincing to get my family to support me. Once I made my decision and they saw that I was definitely ready to have surgery, I got their attention and along came their prayers and support. So here I am...my packet was sent off to the insurance company today and now I am just patiently waiting and praying for an approval. I'll keep you posted.
