Feeling better...
on May 31, 2010 12:03 pm
I have felt a lot better this week.  I think having a different variety of food and upping my calories (I'm now at about 500-600 per day up fron 300-400 per day).  So I do have a little more energy.  Pretty good into my routine by now.

Ravioli!!!
on May 28, 2010 9:55 am
Yesterday, my boss and I took our co-worker to lunch for his birthday.  I ordered the children's Cheese Ravioli.  I ate 1/2 of a ravioli.  That is the first time I have ever had Ravioli that wasn't Chef Boyardee.  LOL.  It was good.  That is the first time I have been out to eat since my surgery.  It wasn't hard.  I still enjoyed the atmosphere and the company.  I thought it would be harder than it was.  But instead of the experience being about the food like it used to be, this time it was about getting out of the office and enjoying the conversation.

Soft Food Stage
on May 27, 2010 6:18 am
I started soft food stage this week.  Its the hardest week I've had so far with food, I think.  My first lesson I learned is that 2 oz. of green beans is not the same thing as 2 oz. of pureed food.  I can only take about 2 or 3 bites of the soft foods.  They fill my stomach much, much faster.  I ate eggs the first day that morning and they sat fine.  I tried tuna with mayo, and it sat really, really heavy.  I also tried a little mac and cheese and it was very sticky.  I know I shouldn't have done mac and cheese but I hadn't hardly eaten anything that was sitting well, so I thought I'd try it since it was soft.  So for dinner I had another scrambled egg.  Again, it sat well.  Tuesday morning I had a scrambled egg again.  I think I took too big of a bite, I threw it back up.  And once you throw up an egg, it really turns you off of eggs for a while, not matter what made you throw it up!  LOL
Yesterday I had mini-bite ravioli's.  They sat pretty good.  But the best thing yet, I had cooked squash last night and it went down so smooth and sat very well.  My favorite so far this week!!!
So, this week has definitely been the biggest challenge!

3 weeks out
on May 18, 2010 10:19 am
I was 3 weeks post op yesterday!  Woo Hoo!  So far (knock on wood) I am doing well.  I am looking forward to my "soft foods" stage that I will start next week.  Really the only problem I have had is with my energy.  I'm tired a lot.  But I was tired before, so anyway.

Back to Work!
on May 10, 2010 7:07 am
I am 2 weeks out and back to work today!  1/2 days, but still. Trying to get into my new little routine.  It's now a little after 10am and I feel my energy going a little low.  I am drinking my water and protein shake and eating some pudding.
Today is also my first day on pureed foods.  I had a little bit of grits this morning.  Mmmmm, they were good.  But I didn't eat much because they were new to me, so I didn't want to over do it.  I ate about 4 bites, little bites.  They sat pretty well.  I also brought baby food with me.  I know I'm only here half a day, but just in case.
It feels good to be back at work.
Everyone keeps saying I'm back early.  I've been out for 2 weeks!  That's half of a month!  And I'm only doing half days!  I don't feel it's too early!
