Loving my tool and my healthier life...
on August 29, 2011 5:45 am
Well, I performed my monday morning ritual and weighed prior to my shower. I am now 222.5 pounds, which means I have lost 71.5 pounds since starting this journey. I am only 4 months and 2 weeks out from surgery! I can't believe how good I feel mentally and physically. I am much more active than I have been in a long time. I dont think I have been this weight in at least 7 years (maybe longer). I have had a few slip ups with eating carbs but I try to keep it all in perspective and don't go overboard. I love that I can fit into a 14/16 or WL instead of the 2Xs and 18/20 or 22's from a few months ago. I know this has been the best decision I have made in a long time.

So happy with the decision that I made...

I hit my first goal weight of 250 lbs one day before my 2 month surgiversary. I have lost an additional 4 pounds since last week. I can't believe how much better I feel mentally and physically having lost 48 pounds!!! My relationship with my husband is definitely better !!! I am doing more things with my children (playing in the park and running around the house). WLS was the best thing that I could have done for myself and for my family!!!

I completed my final PCP visit today. So now I am waiting for the submission to the insurance company to get the surgery date :) I hope everything goes well and that I won't have to spend a lot of time waiting to get to the next phase of my life. A thinner, healthier me is waiting to break out !!!

My Story

Well, where do I begin...
I am a 30 year old married mother of 3 year old twin boys. My weight story is pretty typical I guess. I wasn't always "heavy". I was averaged size until my junior year of college. I guess the stress of college and relationship problems triggered overeating. I started gaining weight then and it never really leveled off. Over the past 10 years, I have gained about 135 pounds. Now I have achy knees and hips (which I am too young to go through all of this) So I decided a had to make a change for my kids, but more importantly for myself.

I am currently finishing all the requirements for surgery and hope to have surgery by the end of March 2011. My insurance company is putting me through the ringer but in the end it will all be worth it!!
