Five years later...
on August 23, 2012 6:06 am
I cannot believe it has been 5 years since I had my RNY. It seems like a lifetime. Almost hard to remember what it was like to be obese and struggling every day. Now that is not to say that my life is without struggles today but they are easier to deal with. Two car accidents in 10 months have messed up my back and neck. Most days though the pain is manageable and I just keep moving forward. I also know for sure that I am Lactose Intolerant thanks to the breath test. I also suspect that wheat gluten causes me to have issue with severe abdominal bloating and pain. I just need to decide on a start date to go Gluten free and see if my symptoms improve.
I also have another hernia but must wait until November to see the surgeon. This will be my 4th hernia repair. I need to have a very serious discussion with my surgeon to see what can be done so I don't have to do this again.
So life is not all rainbows and butterflies but it is so much better. I would do all of the over again in a heartbeat.
I truly am so grateful and love my RNY!

My Story

My story is probably much the same as everyone else's. I have been overweight my whole life.
Finally decided to do something when my knees got so bad I could hardly walk around the block.
I was living life in the background.
