Surgeon Testimonial

Brett May, M.D.
**** FOUR STARS FOR DR. BRETT MAY!

From the time I met the staff and up to the time I met Dr. May everyone was wonderful. Best of all Dr May treated me as if I were one of his family members. He checked on me three times a day. He is always open for quesitons or if I need help. He always explaines things when needed and even returns my phone calls personally. I would say that Dr. Brett May has been very thourough and excellent! I am very proud to have him as a doctor.

Only three more days of liquids!
on September 2, 2012 6:51 pm
Only three more days of liquid I'm so excited to have a variety of something to eat. But I have to admit being on liquids was easy it took away my options of what I was going to eat so it was harder to make the wrong choices.  I am now reminded that I need to plan my meals. I also realized I need to have a backup plan all the time.  This really helped me to remember to go back to the basics.  I can say I was a little disappointed not to lose more weight than I have in the last three weeks.  today I weighed in and I have lost a total of 8 pounds in almost 3 weeks.  It's hard to remember how fast the weight came off before compared to how it came off this time.  But I do know that if I keep making the right choices my body will level out where needs to be.  I still have not been doing well at recording what I put in my mouth.  My goal for this week is to make a plan for what I want to eat and to record what I have.  I also have not been exercising as much because I haven't had as much energy.  So my goal this week is to work out at least 3 to 4 times.  It has been a hard three weeks and I have had a lot of people criticize me for doing this.  Many people who have not had gastric bypass tell me I'm making the wrong choices by doing liquids.  But I am thankful I didn't listen to them I feel good about what is to come.  I absolutely feel like I'm back on track with where my eating needs to be in making better choices!

Week 1 completed of "Time Out"
on August 25, 2012 7:00 pm
Ok, so I decided since I have a friend that just had RNY that I would do her post op diet with her for motivation for me to get back on the wagon!  One of my dr's called it a "time out" and he suggested doing liquids unitl you are at the weight you want to be or unitl you reach your lowest weight thus far.  My goal.  to go from 146 to 130.  Today I weigh in at 139.  I have been on liquids now for ten days!  I am REALLY tired of liquids and ready to eat real food again!

Things I need to get better at:  Logging my food!!! that is probably the number one thing that will make the biggest difference for me!  Oh, and to stop cooking things that are not healthy for me or my family (like the 50 cupcakes on my counter waiting to go to the teachers for the first day of school).  I have no idea why I do this to myself!  So crazy!

I am always looking for friends to share my journey with, and friends to share healthy good recipes!

Now, for another week of liquids!

starting over
on August 16, 2012 5:14 am
ok, so today marks a new journey for me.  I hit my highest weight since I started gaining weight and have decided to take drastic measures to turn this thing around!  My inspiration is my friend Eryn who is going into surgery as we speak for her RNY!  I have decided I am going to do the post op diet with her to re-start my weight loss and get my body back where it should be.  Yes I had been eating junk that I should not be eating.  And even though, changing my eating habits would help... unfortunaly I was not heavy before just by chance... I can do great one day and then fall on my face the next... so hopefully by going back to the post op diet I will have the time to restart and retrain myself again in the right way!

I will only be weighing myself once a week and no more.  My first two weeks is liquids only, protien drinks, crystal light, water, unsweetend applesauce and sugar free jello.

today 8/16/12 starting weight 143.  no goal weight posted (however I would like to be somewhere between 125-135)

getting back on the wagon
on July 30, 2012 6:00 pm
well, i have officially gained ten pounds!  so now i am back on the wagon trying to figure out all this stuff again!  i just want to kick myself for ever trying to eat bread and sugar again!  but i will prevail!  i will beat this and win!  i will start being more active on here and make sure i do the right things... because i don't want that ten to become twenty, and that is so easy to do!  i have started the five day pouch test to help me!  and i have started kicking up my exercising again!!

It's Been a LONG TIME since I posted!
on March 5, 2012 6:33 pm

Wow it's been a long time since I put anything on here!  But things are going well.  I had my gall bladder out about a month and a half ago.  I am struggling to keep my weight down... I go between 133-142 a lot.  My "oh no" weight is the 142.  I have to say that I have eaten sugar, and i hardly ever dump anymore.  Wish I had never picked up a cookie or sweet but every day I try to keep it from my mouth!!  I still never have soda pop and don't drink when I eat.  I workout all the time so that helps!  I did just do my first half marathon last november!  yea!!  and I still look at the scale and wish it to be less.... hmmm... guess that will never change!

I still say that my gastric by-pass was the best thing I ever did.  The tummy tuck was a horrible experience.. and I still don't think I would do it again... but of coarse... now I want my legs done and I need some boobs!  Will I ever be happy with what I have?  I do love to see a smaller me in the mirror though!
