My Story

I have felt overweight my whole life. When I look back at pictures, I realize that my expectations were incredibly unrealistic. Now I know that my body type is one that tends to look "fluffier" even at a healthy weight. I was the girl with size D's in 5th grade, so I had the physical characteristics of a woman while still a child. I was mortified in 6th grade PE when we had to go up to the scale in front of the entire class to be weighed. I weighed 110 lbs. and thought my life was over, because a 6th grader can't possibly weight that and NOT be "fat". Of course I was 4'11" at the time, so that was really a perfect weight for me, but no one told me that. From that point on, I thought I was destined to be overweight and I added about 10 pounds a year for the next few years.

Today, I am 43, 226 lbs., and tired of living like that hurt little girl. I have tried everything I know to do, within my power, and this is my last resort. I pray that this surgery serves me as a tool to become more powerful than the food I have submitted to for so long.
