I'm home!
on September 30, 2008 1:47 pm
We were in Great Falls for less than 24 hours.  Unreal!  Barry was asking me this morning how it felt to finally have it done instead of all the waiting.  It feels great!

We got to the hospital about 10 a.m. and checked in.  At 10:30 we were told it would be at least 2 more hours before they needed me.  We left for a while and Barry helped a friend load a hot tub on a trailer.  (that was fun to watch)  We got back to the hospital about noon and I was called back to OR prep at 1.  I was supposed to be the last case of the day but apparently the person before me was chewing gum all day and had to be delayed.  Everything happened fast and furious then to get me prepped for surgery.  I briefly met with the anesthesiologist and Dr. Rohrer.  Happy juice was put in my IV and I only barely remember being wheeled into surgery and scooting over onto the table.  Next thing I know I'm waking up in recovery then being wheeled upstairs.  Barry brought me flowers.  He's such a sweetie and oh so good to me.  I would wake up for 5 minutes then sleep for 15.  I can't believe the amount of liquids they brought into me.  I hope they didn't expect me to finish all of it!  But.......that chicken broth was so warm and yummy!  At 8 pm I asked when I could be discharged.  All I had to do was potty, walk the halls a few times and finish my antibiotics.  We were released at 9 and headed off to the hotel.  Barry got me all settled in and went to Walgreens to fill my prescriptions, just in case.  It was funny when he came back because there's a huge bottle of liquid pain reliever and a huge glass bottle of anti-nausea.  The glass bottle reminds me of the old time "elixers".  I haven't had to use either as liquid Tylenol works just fine.

We went back to the hospital this morning for my upper GI and were heading out by 9:20 and home by 1 p.m.

I am so surprised at how good I feel.  My port incision is sore and that area feels bruised and I can definitely feel all the gas pressure in my belly.  But other than that, I feel great!  I'm sipping on my water and some grape isopure.  It does hurt if I take too big of a sip though.

Life is good and now it's nap time

on September 28, 2008 2:04 pm
Tomorrow is the big day!  I actually woke up at 5 this morning freaking out that we were late.  I had to remind myself that today is Sunday.  I'm going to spend some mommy daughter time with Kristyna this afternoon then finish packing.  I'm so excited, anxious and nervous all rolled into one!

Day 13 Pre-Op Diet: 233.2
on September 27, 2008 9:18 am
I have officially lost 10 pounds on the pre-op diet.  That was my goal so anything from now until Monday is a bonus!

I can't believe how much work I need to accomplish just to be able to take next week off.  I was at work until 8:30 last night and I'm here again today for a little bit.  It will all be worth it to not have the work stress hanging over my head next week.

Day 12 Pre-Op Diet: 233.4
on September 26, 2008 8:38 am
Is is possible to lose your hunger or is it just this diet?  I find that I really don't get hungry but know I need to eat.  I eat what little I'm allowed and i'm full.  Weirdest thing ever!  Who would have thought it possible?

I went to GNC yesterday.  Their protien mixes were buy 1 get 1 50% off.  I thought I would give them a try for a little variety.  The sales girl was so helpful and really knew the products.  She talked me into a chocolate carmel and it is so yummy!  I think I can make it into a carmel mocha frappe with the help of my magic bullet.  I also found a sugar free chai powder at World Import along with some sugar free raspberry syrup.  I might go back over there and see if they have some kind of sugar free coffee/latte powder.  I love my coffee!!!!

I can't believe it's Friday.  I have so much to do over the weekend and then it's Monday!!!  This really has gone by faster than I thought.  Kristyna has nothing to do tonight so I talked her into watching Austin while Barry and I go out for a little bit.  Then Sunday after she gets off work we're going to have a girls day out.  It probably includes some shopping.  I think I might even pick up an outfit that's cute but a little small.  A little extra motivation never hurt anyone, right?
