7 Days Post-Op:)
on July 18, 2007 10:14 am
I can't believe it's only been a week since my surgery!  I feel really good.  I'm barely sore at all and just a little tired.  My experience at Barix was superb and I am also so pleased with my doctor.  I had surgery last Wednesday, was up walking later that day.  I passed my lead test the next morning and so they removed everything but the IV and I was able to shower, which was nice. I walked a LOT in the hospital, which I think really helped. I came home Friday mid morning and only took my pain medicine that night and haven't had it since:)

I have been checking the scale and I did go up a few pounds after surgery but as of today, I'm about 13 pounds down from my presurgery weight! That's just amazing to me. Yeah!

Well, that's all for now. I'm going to make my first trip to the store with just the kids to pick up a few things.

PATs done, 8 days to surgery!
on July 3, 2007 4:55 pm
Well, it's been a busy week but I had my PATs last Wednesday and now it's just about a week away until my surgery!  My PAT appt lasted about 3 hours, beginning early at 7:30 am.  My husband went with me and after doing some paperwork and drawing some blood, we attended the hour long nutrition class. I was glad he came along to hear what eating will be like afterwards. From there, I went back to do the urinalysis, chest x-ray, breathing test and meeting the internest who will be taking care of me in the hospital. My husband had to wait in the waiting room where he found the chairs to be uncomfortable:(  I told him he could sit on my pillow during my surgery:)  My cholesterol was actually 150, which was a little surprising! I'm cleared and have my directions for my liquid diet the day before.  I'm hoping the next week goes by quickly as I'm getting nervous and excited.

Also, my 12-year-old son coined the term "thumbach" because I told him that they are going to make my stomach the size of a thumb. Hilarious!

I have a date!
on June 18, 2007 4:04 am
Well, I'm scheduled for surgery on July 11th, about 3-1/2 weeks away!  I'm so excited and also so nervous. It seems like a dream to me, I can't believe this is actually going to happen.  I'm reasearching as much as I can about what I will need postop and looking forward to my preop testing on June 27th:)

Well, I got a call from Vicky today saying that she got my psych eval back and I'm approved.  My chart has been given to Dr. Kam to sign off on and then they will call me with a date!  Yahoooooo!

Waiting...
on June 5, 2007 5:56 am
Well, I am waiting for a date.  I had my psych consult with Dr. Medick on 5/25 and already had my referral letter and EKG in before that.  I'm just waiting for the psych eval report to be turned in and for my date.  I've called Vicky at Barix a few times times now, just to make sure I was getting everything I needed for my insurance (BCBS PPO) and that she had received my faxes. I don't want to be like a stalker but I really want to call every day to see what's going on. I'm refraining though:)

I'm so ready to begin this journey!
