Surgeon Testimonial

Jessie Lopez DO, M.D.
Dr. Lopez did my lap-band surgery on 10/26/05 and I think he is wonderful. He really seems to be a great patient advocate. He went over the procedure with me and made me feel very at ease about everything. I felt like I had picked a great surgeon with excellent skills. I have not had one complication with this surgery. I would recommend him to anyone.

Pondering.....
on April 11, 2007 7:37 am

I keep thinking I need to lose about 8-10 more pounds.  I would really like to see a 1-5-something on the scale.  But at the same time, I'm not so sure that it matters, because I'm not highly motivated right now to do what is necessary to see those numbers drop.  I'm sure I don't need a fill.  What I DO need is more exercise, more good protein, and more water.  I hover between 160 and 163 most weeks.  I've learned that is normal fluctuation for my body.  I've never gone back up over 165 (with TOM) so I feel like I'm maintaining well.  I'm just not LOSING.  But the question is....do I need to?  Or is this where my body is comfortable?

Cute compliment
on February 12, 2007 9:00 am

My 7-yo daughter complimented me not long ago and I had to share....I was wearing a V-neck sweater, and she pointed to my front and said, "Why do you have those bones there?"
I said, "Those are my collarbones.  You have them too."
She wrinkled up her nose and said, "Yeah, but mine don't stick out like that."
She had no idea how glad I am that mine do!  ;o)

Weight lifting actually works!
on January 29, 2007 7:33 am
Yep, believe it peeps.  I've actually been NOT great at all about being on a serious exercise program this month.  For some reason I've had trouble bouncing back from the laziness/too busy to do it stuff that always surrounds the holidays.  BUT, the last two weeks I've been trying to get in some serious cardio 3-4 days a week and then some weight lifting 2-3 nights a week.  I think its working!  I've lost another 4 pounds in January.  That's pretty awesome.  I had been stuck at 166 for a month and was starting to think maybe my body was comfortable there and wasn't going to budge.  I guess I convinced it otherwise.  ;o)

100 pounds gone forever!
on December 14, 2006 8:49 am
I have officially lost 100 pounds.  I honestly can't believe it!  I'm so excited, and yet, its ho-hum at the same time.  Its like this is just what "normal" is....it is what it is.  I guess that means I've adjusted to life with the band!  I feel satisfied on just a little food at every meal, I actually enjoy exercising, and I think I might even begin to like trying on clothes.  That would be the real shock!!

Losing 100 pounds was my goal.  I'm there...now what?  I'm considering maybe trying to lose another 12-15 lbs.  That would put me in the BMI category of "normal."  I don't feel like I *need* to lose that weight, but I do have some soft spots I'd like to firm up a little bit.  We'll see.  If I get there, great.  If I don't, I'm perfectly okay with the weight I'm at.  I plan to hone my new-found skills to perfection and see what happens, i.e. drink plenty of water each day, exercise like a true athlete, and eat really healthy meals.  If it comes off, it comes off.  If it doesn't, then I'll know I did my absolute best and this is just where my body is comfortable!

I am the thrift store QUEEN
on November 27, 2006 12:59 pm
I love thrift stores.  Its not that I'm terribly frugal, in fact I'm probably just the opposite.  But I rarely buy anything for myself, especially clothes.  I HATE to try on clothes.  Its about the worst torture I could dream up for myself.

While in Denver for Thanksgiving, I visited one the first day I was there and bought myself some size 12 jeans which I was mucho happy about, because (see post below) I just discovered not long ago that I was in fact a 12.  I even found a delicious long black suede skirt that was a 12 (so I dont have to borrow one anymore!!!).  Weeha.

Then, I go with my SIL to a GIANT thrift store that I had never been to before.  Did I mention that I love thrift stores?  The size 12 jeans I had bought three days before were actually a little roomy, so I decided to get brave and buy some size 10s.  I DON'T try on, so I figured if I was going to wing it, $3 a pair wasn't going to kill me.

Yeah, you guessed it again.  THEY FIT.  I almost had an anxiety attack about it.  I couldn't believe that I was running around in 14s thinking this was the cat's meow and now I'm wearing 10s.

If I actually get into single digits, I may need some therapy.
