WELL, THIS IS BITTER SWEET! I HAVE LOST 70LBS IN 5 1/2 MONTHS. BY SOME STANDARDS THAT IS AWESOME!! BY OTHERS STANDARDS, THAT IS AVERAGE FOR WLS PATIENTS!! I AM TORN WITH MY RESULTS:
ON THE ONE HAND, I AM VERY HAPPY BECAUSE I FEEL MUCH HEALTHIER. I CAN DO A LOT MORE THAN BEFORE WLS AND PEOPLE WHO KNEW ME LARGE, COMMENT ON MY WEIGHT LOSS. I FEEL GOOD ABOUT THAT.
ON THE OTHER HAND, I AM DISAPPOINTED IN MYSELF! I KNOW I COULD HAVE DONE MUCH BETTER AND LOST AT LEAST 10-15 MORE LBS BY NOW. I DIDN'T EAT AS WELL AS I SHOULD HAVE AND DIDN'T EXERCISE AS WELL AS I SHOULD HAVE. SOME DAYS, MOST DAYS I JUST DON'T WANT TOO...JUST FEEL UNMOTIVATED OR SOMETHING. NOW THAT MY WEIGHT LOSS HAS SLOWED TREMENDOUSLY, FRUSTRATION HAS SET IN. I AM DOING THE RIGHT THINGS NOW, BUT STALL, AFTER STALL AND THE SCALE IS NOT MOVING...NOR ARE THE INCHES. (WELL THEY ARE BUT VERY SLOWLY LIKE 6LBS A MONTH AND 2 OR 3 INCHES A MONTH).
SO NOW WHAT? I NEED TO GET TO AT LEAST 150LBS! I AM 192.3 NOW, THAT IS 42LBS TO GO! NOT BAD BUT SO FAR AWAY.
I AM JUST VENTING. I STARTED BACK AT THE BOXING GYM AND AM DETERMINED TO GET THIS WEIGHT OFF. I WILL CONTINUE TO FIGHT MYSELF INTO BETTER EATING PATTERNS AND DRINKING MY WATER. I CHALLENGE MYSELF TO LOSS 42 LBS BY 12/31/08. THAT IS MY PERSONAL GOAL. TO ALL THE NEWBIES OUT THERE, PLEASE, FOLLOW THE PROGRAM TO A "T" BECAUSE IT DOES GET HARDER.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL IN THIS WLS STRUGGLE AND MAY EACH ONE OF US GET HEALTHIER.
IT TOOK FOREVER BUT IT FINALLY HAPPENED!!! 198.8. FOREVER GONE ARE 63.5LBS. I AM TRUELY BLESSED. I FEEL SO MUCH BETTER AND CAN DO A WHOLE LOT MORE IN MY DAY. I AM HALF WAY TO GOAL WEIGHT, 60LBS TO GO. ON WED. 07/30/08 IT WILL BE 5 MONTHS. MY GOAL IS TO LOSE 1.8LBS BY 7/30/08 FOR A TOTAL OF 65LBS.
IT IS TIME TO REALLY CRANK UP THE EXERCISE...I AM NOT CONSISTANT LIKE I SHOULD BE. I AM BECOMING MORE DISCIPLINED THESE DAYS. GOES TO SHOW YOU THAT IF YOU DON'T QUIT, EVER THOSE OF US WHO ARE NOT THE PERFECT LOOSERS, WILL STILL BE SUCCESSFUL. THANK YOU JESUS FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY!!!
I am very happy with my surgery now...we are becoming friends. So far things have been good. I am down 61.5 lbs in Four Months (as of 7/2/08).
I have not always done the right thing, I have cheated with sweets (a cookie, lemonaide) nothing too serious. I realized that to be realistic, I had to allow myself a bite or sip every once in a while.
So, I stopped beating myself up. I took the bite, drank the sip and keep right on working out, drinking my protein and water.
I am doing really well in getting all my protein and vitimans in each day. I have been working out 3-4 times a week for the last month. Although my weight loss seems to be slowing down a bit, I have not had any stalls longer than 2-3 days and have been consistant in loosing 15 lbs a month for the first three months and 11 lbs in my fouth month.
So now, I will buckle down and increase my water and work outs for the next few months. I am getting the hang of this WLS thing and have made it my life now. I am so happy I did this surgery. I am at my half way point and by the end of the week, I will no longer be in the 200's but will enter onederland!!!, until then, God bless each one of you.
13 weeks out!
Today is a good day. I am down 50lbs and I finally fit into a size 18 for the first time in nearly 5yrs!!!! I wore a size 22/24 day of surgery. I felt like it has taken forever to get out of the twenty sizes but I did it today. I found some nice jeans, size 18 short about three weeks ago and could not zip them up. This morning I tried them on and damn, they fit perfect. I am so excited. This is what it is all about. I am starting to really see a difference and it feels great. I can't wait to get home so I can go to the gym. I want to get into those size 16 I have waiting in my closet!
Thank you Lord for giving me this awesome opportunity to re-gain my life back. I am overjoyed!!!!
I am a 40yr old single woman who has always been an athlete. Most of my life I have been in excellent shape. I was blessed with athletic abilities. I played competitive softball all around the United States and was even a boxer training with Hall of Fame trainer, Freddy Roach. In 2003 I sustained a work injury that would change my life forever! As a result I underwent a major back surgery and three knee surgeries. Due to steroids for a ruptured disc, I gained 80lbs in three years. Soon, my knees failed and it seemed my health just went down hill. Before I knew it I had high blood pressure, leg and foot pain and was up to a size 22! During this time, I was also diagnosed with ovarian cancer and underwent a total hysterectomy. Six months later I had emergency gall bladder surgery. In the process my son had gained a lot of weight. I couldn't help but feel it was my fault. Thank God for WLS and this opportunity to change my life!
