Surgeon Testimonial

James Harris, M.D.
Gotta tell you that Dr. Harris is the best! I have been with him since 2008 and he has been wonderful. My first impression of him being impersonal was totally wrong. He is very warm and sincere doctor that wants to help.

I have had issues with my lapband and we are meeting on Nov 4th to decide what course of action to take now. Looking forward to this imput.

Well it has been a while since I posted.  I had my staples out on Monday, August 25, and everything is fine.  I was told to go on to the regular food stage at this point.  So far everything I have tried to eat has been tolerated.

I got on the doctor's scale and to my surprise it was about 2 lbs less that my home scale!  What the heck I'll take it!

Dr does not want me to do anything strenous yet, just walking and maybe a little swimming.  I still cannot lift more that 10-15 lbs for two more weeks, but I feel great.  I really want to start an exercise program, but doc say wait 2 more weeks.

Hello.  Surgery was on Tuesday, August 12, 2008.  I was in the operating room for 50 minutes. Dr. Harris said that everything went perfectly.  I had stayed on my low carb diet for 4 weeks instead of the required 2 weeks and I think that helped a great deal. I was able to sip and walk around so he let me leave the hospital at 3:00 pm providing that I would not travel to Whiteville (55 miles) and would stay overnight in Wilmington which we did.  I was at home in my own bed by 11:00 am on Wednesday.  After a little nap, I walked to my neighbors house and visited with her (she had knee surgery) for about 30 minutes, walked back home and sip, sip, sip!!!

Thursday I was able to start drinking the protein shake.  I made a shake with FF SF Ice Cream and 2% milk (didn't have skim, do now) and my protein powder.  Seperated it into 5 ounce cups (about 1/2 full) put the sticky glad wrap over and put in freezer.  Was able to get all but one of them down today.  I also sipped water between shakes.

Friday, we drove to Shallotte (closest GNC) and picked up some protein drinks and bullets, liquid vitamins, and liquid calcium. I had the left over protein shake for breakfast and started a protein drink (40 grams)  for lunch.  I am still working on it now.  I hope to finish it before I go to bed!  LOL  Not quite getting all the protein in but working on it.

Pain has been minimal all the way through.  I have taken my pain meds at night and I did take a little (1tsp) before we left for Shallotte today.  Of course gas is the worst!  Taking Gas X strips and walking has helped alot.  Still is uncomfortable to cough or laugh to much!  But much better.

All in all it has been a good experience so far.

My scales were broken so I needed to get a new one. I weighed on the doctor's scales on Monday and when I weighed on my new scales today it showed a 7 lb difference.....  I figure the doc's and mine are a few lbs different!  But maybe I have lost a little.

I will use mine to track from now on and willl know closer to what I have lost.  I will only be weighing once a week and I think that will be on Mondays!
