28lbs gone.

Oct 31, 2007

Well I went to the surgeons 2 week post op visit yesterday and no problems.  Was placed on soft foods.  I made some chicken salad and FF cottage cheese.  I was nervous about eating with all the stories about foamies and things getting stuck.  No problems.  This morning I made a scrambled egg and some SF lite yogurt.  I was nervous about that because of the stories about scrambled eggs and.....no problem.   For Lunch it was a half can of chunky ham and bean soup.  No issues.  Ill probably have some string cheese for a snack soon and tonight maybe some more chicken salad or salmon salad.  Its nice to feel normal again.

Progress!!!

Well I just took a picture of my face with my cell and compared it to a pic that I took the night before surgery and WOWOW.  I cannot believe the difference.  I don't want to say that I look great, but its getting better for sure.

Back to work!!!

Oct 25, 2007

Big day.  I get to go back to work.  Might be a long day though.  Dogs woke me up at 4 and that was that.  No more sleep.  Ill work from 2pm to maybe 11pm.  Not sure.  Ill see how I feel.  I feel great right now.  I am drinking milk (skim) and protein shakes with lots of water.  Ill take a short walk today then get ready to go. I wonder if anyone will actually see a differernce.   Guess it really doesnt matter as I can feel a difference.  The wows will come.  All for now.

Staples Out

Oct 24, 2007

Got the staples pulled yesterday.  No change in weight though.  It was only a day and a half since the last weigh in so I am not stressing it.  A couple of the staples didnt want to go quietly and gave me a good pinch.  It was nice though.  Just one more step on the road to complete recovery.
Still just jello, broth, protien shakes and water.  Gettin old but not much longer.  I made it this far whats another few days.  Walked almost 2 miles yesterday.  I think that I am ready to go back to work tomorrow.
Oh,  I did try milk yesterday and was pretty nervous as I have heard the horror stories of people not being able to stomach milk after surgery and it went down fine.  A bit of gurgling but thats it.

Enjoying Recovery

Oct 23, 2007

Well its been nothing but broth, proien shakes, water, and sf jello.  Nothing else.  I have been walking here and there.  I did not refill my lortab prescription as I really dont think I need it.  Besides I am not too keen on the NARC pain killers.  I got rid of my scale months ago and so I have to go to the Dr. office and weigh in.  I think it works best as this keeps me from scale addiction.  Staples out tomorrow at 4pm.

Its done and over with

Oct 18, 2007

I am home now.  Everything went well.  I did have to stay one night extra due to some unexpected pain.  Had my upper GI (yuck) and everything was clear.  REally glad to be home now and sitting in my chair.  Looking at going back to work a week from today.  Should be fine.  Going to walk today and sip water and force protien shakes.  Like I read weeks ago,  every day gets a little better.  I need to go out and buy a scale sometime, but no hurry.

Friday night.

Oct 12, 2007

The countdown is in full swing for me.  Its Friday and as usual I am stuck at work.  The time has really flown by but I bet the next 2 days drag ass.  Tomorrow night is my last meal.  Sunday night will only have liquids.  Not prescribed but gonna do it anyways for my own piece of mind.  Nothing after midnight though.
The hospital called me today for my pre screening for admitting me Monday night.  They asked me lots of questions that didn't seem to have any bearing to the surgery but whatever.
Got lots of good lucks today from co-workers.  It was nice.  Still made me more nervous the more I thought about it.  They were all talking about whats going on Monday here at work and I was thinking where I would be while all that was going on.  Was really hard to focus on business.  OK its 10:50pm now and in an hour and ten minutes it will be Saturday officially and I can say "The day after tomorrow".

One week from now and............

Oct 08, 2007

OK its been 4 days since my last post and that is uncacceptable.

I have been looking at the clock all day today and wondering where I will be one week from that point.  At 7am this morning I was saying that I would be driving to the hospital
At 9am I was saying that I would be in pre op
At 11:30 I would be out like a light
At noon   I would be in recovery
At 5pm up in my room
Etc.......

Kind of weird I know but I BET that everyone reading this did the same thing a week before their surgery.

Dreams

Oct 04, 2007

Well I am starting to have dreams about the surgery.  Not pretty ones either.  I have confirmation that this is normal from my support group so I am going to let it slip out of mind.  My mother has really gotten on the wagon with my surgery.  She sends me emails daily with how many days are left.  Its nice to see.  Well all for now.  In case you were wondering 11 more days.

Getting closer

Oct 03, 2007

12 days left.  Getting closer.  Not really nervous but.......well maybe at bit.  I did find out to my yesterday that I am getting a shot of blood thinner before and after my surgery.  I have been concerned about this since I heard abut clots.  Nothing more for now.
