10 days post op
on June 2, 2007 9:34 am
Well here I am at 10 days...one of my steristrips bandages fell off, what a tiny little incision...my lord I don't know what could have gone through there....come to think of it....I don't think I want to know :-) Feeling pretty good, sensing that when I have a knot in my chest sort of...that is a very full feeling and it is damn uncomfortable. This is taking alot of listening to my body, have no clue what is going on, but it is talking to me and I am listening. I will get there, I know I have to be patient which isn't easy for me, but I will get there.

3 Days Post surgery
on May 25, 2007 8:11 am
Well I am on the other side, very sore but on the other side. I have to give a special thank you to HRRH, the staff and nurses and especially Dr. Klein. He was kind and understanding and very supportive. Couldn't have asked for better. Walked down the hall to the OR with about 5 other people, each had a different surgeon obviously but we all walked in with our partners and sat in the OR waiting area. Kind of interesting really. The anestegiologist (spelling sucks) came and talked with me and my husband, he was very nice and funny (said I guess this isn't a good time to tell you you are my first...haha) Then Dr Klein came and talked with us. The nurse came and got me and my IV pole and walked me into OR #2. I had to check out all the equipment first....laid down on the table, the nurse was so sweet and calming, Next thing I knew I was out...came to and felt so nauseated, they gave me a shot of gravol, anestitist (?) came and said hi and I did well, apparently so did Dr Klein but I don't remember. Finally back up to my room by around 3. Hubby was waiting for me. He said Dr Klein was out to see him in about 1.5 hours and said all went well.
Nurses on surgical were great...had a clear liquid dinner and was sitting up with no problem (although that could have been becasue of the pain meds in my IV) Dr Klein came in around 7.30 and said I had a choice of either going home in the morning or I could go home that night. I opted for my own house that night. 5 incision sites....sore

My Story

Well I have been overweight since the birth of my second son.....I was never a skinny one mind you, but after he was born I seemed to pile on the weight. It was always another 10 lbs. never looked at the total, just another 10 lbs. When my youngest son was 3 and my oldest 5, their father walked out on us, at Christmas to boot. He went straight to another woman, a co worker and believe me that was hard to take. Well I think I sunk further into a depression and tried to eat my way out of it. I figured if he didn't want me then I wasn't worth much. After about 3 yrs I began to feel that I wanted more out of life, so I went back to university and got my degree. Changed jobs, am now doing what I love and am back in school. Oh a sideline to this, he married the girl, I was on my own for 18 yrs and you know what? that was a good thing, because I got to know me, and my sons and I enjoyed each other. Well they are grown up, I remarried 2 yrs ago to a wonderful guy who loves me the way I am....funny thing though, even though I went back to school, am working at a job that I love, I wasn't satisfied. I am a type 2 diabetic and my doctor finally suggested surgery. I wonder what took him so long! A friend that I met along the way Mellie introduced me to this site and my journey began. With the help of my doctor, his referral to Dr. Klein, and this amazing site full of caring people, I researched and researched to determine what I thought was best for me. Dr. Klein agreed, now I have my date, minus a few thousand dollars, but I am on my way to fulfilling my dream. I am currently on 11 pills a day due to the complications with diabetes, I want off them all!!! My oldest son is now 23, getting married in 2008 and I want to be drug free and a better, healthier me!

I am on my way! Thanks Mellie, love ya lots for all your support, thanks to everyone here for their encouragement and support, you are all the best. Thanks to my mom, hubby and kids for loving me always and to Dr. Martin Young in the big village (laughing) of Fenelon Falls, Ontario Canada for always being there to help and encourage me....I wouldn't be on the threshold of this great adventure without any of you.
